Review summary

The ship as a whole was in disrepair and the elevator lobby close to our room had a very bad smell.  The couch in our room was very broken down and not comfortable to sit.  We had to move around a lot to watch the TV.  Speaking of the TV it seemed to be mostly recorded shows other than news channels.  We liked the Love Boat shows but they played the same episode over and over each day.  With so much time out at sea more variety was in order.  The food was mostly the same each day in the Lido deck.  So much of the food was directed at the oriental passengers we had a hard time finding something we wanted to eat.  The crew members were very nice as expected and the condition of the ship is not their fault.  Carpets besides having a bad smell also were torn in many areas.  One elevator was out of service almost all the trip.  Based on the condition of this ship I will not book another cruise with them unless the ship is almost new.  We were also not happy with one of the stops in a industrial harbor.  The only thing to do if you left the ship was excursions and we don't care for them.  We stayed on the ship.  A crew officer said to request a meeting with the chief engineer because I worked in the engine room of the ships I was assigned too in the Navy.  Did not even get a not thank you note from him.  He could at least have said he was not available.  Enjoyed the art auctions, shows, and browsing in the stores without pressure to purchase.  Not all bad however our least enjoyable cruise so far.

I loved the Cruise on the Grand Princess. Too bad you were so intent to point things out that you didn't have a chance to enjoy it. It was relaxing, fun, excursions were delightful, food was good. I would cruise again anytime. Why do negative people try to ruin it for everyone?

May 1-11....two words DRY DOCK. Princess should be ashamed or have heavily discounted cruising on this ship! Why should us local West Coast cruisers get the shoddy ships. 3rd and last with Princess sad to say

I like the older ships was on the Oasis didt not like all the noise lights and way to many people, a d yes i am older but i love to cruise Nov. will be our 42 cruise . I like the elegance of the older ships and i really like the cruises that have a lot of sea days always find something to do even if its playing cards with my husband.

In 1998 she was the largest cruise ship in the world. As time goes on, the cruise companies tend to pay attention to the newer ships in the fleet. They all do this. Just stick to the newer ships. We were on a 10 night cruise in 2014 on the Royal Princess, it was very nice.
