FREEDOM OF THE SEAS by seahag1947

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time on the ship. Our stateroom was cleaned twice a day the ship stayed clean for the entire trip. The crew was very nice and polite and the food was wonderful. How ever if you like to play bingo get ready to shell out some money four games per session for $55. if you are over 60 there's not much to do other than the shows a bingo. But the fun of the cruise out weighs the bad. This cruise was wonderful and I would take it again.

Fantastic Ship, Fantastic Service, Fantastic Staff by jmikhail

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my 21st cruise, 18th with Royal Caribbean. I have been on Princess, Carnival, and Norwegian cruise lines prior to this cruise. Of all the cruise lines that I have been on, RC is by far the best cruise line there is. Yes, you pay a little bit more, but the staff, their ships, and their services are WELL worth the extra charge! The staff was incredibly prompt to getting our room clean, room service food to us, and our waiting staff at dinner was the best I've ever had. Every single staff person went out of their way to insure that our vacation was the BEST possible. And I can tell you honestly, it was. One thing this cruise did different was that they had personal parties for the Diamond member group. If you are a diamond member or above, the diamond lounge staff is EXCELLENT! They were at our every whim with anything that we needed. This ship was fantastic! There was always something to do! The RC ice skaters were amazing. Truly a work of art. All in all, NO complaints here. It was a great vacation, and a great time. In fact, we've already put down money for our next Royal Caribbean vacation!

Awesome Cruise Experience by Cruizin4ever

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my first cruise. I was totally impressed with the variety of food every day, everything was delicious and fresh. The crew was very courteous , polite and helpful. When entering the dining areas and returning to ship, everyone had to use the Purell dispenser.(very clean conscious) There were so many things to do for every age group. Our rooms were always cleaned. The Captain always kept us updated on our sail. More than enough pools and hot tubs...water very clean. Please Go!!! We are planning our cruise for 2014...Irene B.

Fantastic cruise, no kids, and only minor tweaks! by connhart

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was an amazing cruise, that was much needed by me and my wife. This was our first vacation without children in about three years and our sixth cruise overall. The dining room service/experience was the best ever, and we cannot say enough kind words about the Waiter and his team. The Cruise Director, Mike, and Activities Director, Jamie, were the best duo ever, and they really made late night and morning television viewing quite enjoyable. Our only tweaks would be around there not being enough pool space for adults (there's a tremendous kid pool area on this ship, however, it seems to have cut down in overall space for adults not wishing to be indoors at the Solarium), the ability to bring more than one drink at a time with the alcohol package, and finally, the music was horrific (something from this decade would have been appreciated). Overall, this was the perfect vacation for us and we wouldn't hesitate recommending this or taking the cruise again!

Cruise was fun, had good time. Just lacking something. Long line to get on board. Lugauge was damaged . Food in the buffet, was good not great. Jucies were not very good at all in the buffet, just drank water. Saw a couple of shows they were alright . Ship was clean , nicely decorated. Crew was nice but not very attentive. Asked for ice in cabin, never got it. 2 bartenders in the Skybar were the best . Overall trip was good just not great. Best part was beach day at Cozemel.

Very nice ship plenty to do lots to see make sure you make reservations for the ice show seats will go quickly, staff friendly great food. Level 5 good place to do some shopping and also pick up a quick snack pizza, starbucks, ice cream , cupcake or cookies and coffee good set up. One of the things that I feel they can improve on is by the pool the music was not coming out clear enough.

Best Cruise Experience by DianeR10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had the best time and experience during my 7 Night Western Caribbean cruise onboard Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas. The ship itself captured my immediate attention upon boarding. The beauty and splendor of the Freedom by far surpassed any expectation my imagination allowed. The cleanliness of a ship of this size was impressive and the attentiveness of the staff blew me away.

Caribbean fun by reeves

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was looking for a relaxing vacation on my favorite cruise line and that's what I got with my stay on the Freedom of the Seas. I chose to eat at the buffet for all my meals and the food was varied and delicious. The entertainment was top notch - great shows and entertainers. All of these were led by a very energetic and "alive" cruise director. The staff was at their usual friendly best. I couldn't have asked for a better week in the sun!!!

Exciting by mosavio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first 7 day cruise. Before we booked it I was a little skeptical to be on the ship for 7 days, getting bored and wishing to be on land. I took books to read, Sudoku, portable dvd player and 8 movies and my mp3 player to fill in spare time. I am pleased to let you know, I did not get to use any of the things I took because the ship was so full of entertainment and activities. We stopped in four different countries and we went on shore and did some shopping. It was fun. The food was amazing. So many choices. I like the "anytime dinning". We tried to sit in the same area because we bonded with our waiter and assistant waiter. They were very funny and they did great job serving. We are already talking about doing a Eastern Caribbean cruise. I can't wait. Thanks for everything and hope to see you again soon. Eduardo & Miriam Osavio

Royal Vacation by SCShell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We cruised last month on the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas... Our cruise experience was excellent!!! From our excellent cabin steward to our outstanding dinner staff... Head waiter, waiter and assistant waiter Stupendous!!! Food was excellent and the shows were all Broadway equivalent... Our cruise director and his staff were outstanding and there were always fun activities to participate in and places to relax! We also loved the idea of there being early shows for the late night diners and late show for the early... That was perfect! We didn't miss a show and loved it!!! Great variety of bars, clubs and dining!!! We did have a few challenges... 1)The morning head waitresses in the main dining room were rude and unaccommodating... Terrible guest service! 2)Also we were an extended family traveling with numerous rooms and people of all ages... We had 2 older handicapped travelers that could never get a seat by the pool due to people holding spots and towels sitting on lounge chairs for hours!!! With handicapped and older people they have a harder time getting around but still want to be part of the fun so having a designated area for handicapped and/or a reservation system in place for the handicapped is desperately needed!!! 3) Royal Caribbeans private island was not worth getting off the ship for... especially with people who are handicapped & use canes...It was completely disorganized and when we tried to leave the island 2 hours before we needed to you had to stand in line in the sun & heat & wait 30mins just to get to the tender... My Mother almost passed out and we had her sit under a tree until we were close enough for her to get on the tender. Poor organization & guest service... should have handed out "free" bottle water to all the guests waiting on line in the hot sun! We would love to cruise again with Royal Caribbean and Freedom of the Seas! We plan a family cruise every year and depending on time of year we could have anywhere from 9 - 30+ppl cruising. As a matter of fact we are already starting to look into a large family cruise (looking at about 12 - 15 cabins) next summer and if we are able to receive a good and/or discounted price on Royal Caribbean we will cruise again!!! I am an Human Resources professional that has worked for the Marriott International for many years... Now I own my own company that trains corporations and companies staff on excellent guest service and Leadership so I know exceptional guest service... I do want to express that our vacation was excellent on the whole but also I am well aware that you need to know the need or improvement areas too.

Beautiful ship, everything was spotless and the staff were very friendly. The new soda machines with the soda cups were a great idea. Best cruise director I've come across.

Food was okay. The head waiter and his assistant provided excellent service. Stateroom attendant did an excellent job keeping stateroom clean. There were NOT enough photographers on pool deck or dining room to take pictures for photo album we won in a raffle.

we enjoyed our cruise on the Freedom by rita1935

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The service, food, ship were great. We had a lot of children, from infants to college age, on our cruise and they were all well behaved. The only things we felt lacking was things to do after the 7 p.m. show. My husband doesn't stay up late and we found that the music and other activities started at 10 or 10:30 which left a big gap from 8 p.m. on. Overall we enjoyed the cruise, our fourth on the Freedom with a fifth already booked for December.

wonderful experience by notinterested

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had so much fun from beginning to end. The ship is beautiful, the staterooms so comfortable and every staff member was so polite and friendly. We did think the food could have been better. The steak and prime rib were tough and full of grissle and the food was only luke warm. The entertainment was enjoyable. Being a non smoker we were unable to enjoy a nite at the casino. They did have a smoke free night but the casino smelled so heavily of smoke we could not stay there. Should be some way they could refresh the air daily.

Freedom of the Seas June 2013 by 17familymembers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall this cruise was very nice. I have been on better as far as main dining room service and overall cleanliness. Hardly ever saw anyone actually cleaning or polishing except for the stateroom attendants. Costa Cruise I took actually had staff constantly cleaning elevator doors, buttons, etc. We cruised with 15 other family members and it is hard to keep in touch without cellphones. It would be nice to have an onboard cell package. We ended up eating in Portofino and Chops for the last 4 nights, just could not take the main dining anymore. My next cruise will be Alaska but I don't plan to go on Royal Caribbean again.

Great Experience by countrycharm

Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I took my kids for the second time and it was awesome. The staff, food, and accomodations were great. I highly recommend this ship to anyone. We stayed in a Suite this time and it was well worth the additional costs. We were able to get Priority attention in the lines and shows. Be sure to get at least a balcony room so you can enjoy the moonlight evenings and watch the ship go in and out of the ports.
