There should have been someone greeting passengers as they boarded with welcome aboard.  Dining room staff was okay. Buffet should have been open longer.

Wonderful 7 Night Eastern Cruise by jojo60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First time on a RC cruise. The Freedom is a great ship so much to do and see.  differently a WOW factor. KC the cruse director did a outstanding job bring the ship together. Our cabin 8228 was well  taken care of by John.He always had fresh Ice waiting for us and amusing towel art.  The food was good, no complaints, there is so much to choose from. Our excursions were fun and relaxing. but do read the reviews. We choose the Pirate ship with snorkeling, You do jump with snorkeling gear from Pirate ship.We also did Orient beach excursion, great tour on AIR conditioned bus... Both had lunch for us....We diffidently will be looking for a deal next year

Freedom of the Seas by pugzi

Royal Caribbean has gone way down in my points as far as quality, especially the food. Repitious food everyday which got to be very boring after four days. Food once was great !! No more midnight buffets either. So many things have changed in the past 10 years or since our last cruise with RC. On the positive, the staff were just as cordial, friendly and helpful as always. Other passengers were extremly rude, especially the teens, 20's and ever the 30's. No excuse for rudeness, especially with the older generations and those who were disabled. Wanted to swim in pools but kids overtook pools and hot tubs. Need a pool for older people and disabled as well the the pools you have for others.

This is a beautiful ship by gesswhoo

We enjoy the size and great way the space is utilized.  It seemed like all the staff has been reduced in size however not even one said anything about the amount of work expected of them.  Every one was kind, courteous, and friendly.  You have a loyal staff.

We have another cruise coming in January for Freedom of the Seas before it is relocated.   The Oasis will be considered by us after January.

MISS IT ALREADY:( by garykimsamuel

WE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME, WE CAN'T WAIT TO  GO BACK!  OUR ROOM WAS KEPT NEAT AND TIDY EVERY NIGHT.  AND THE KIDS LOVED THE TOWEL ANIMALS.  AND THE SERVICE AT DINNER AND AT THE BUFFETS WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD.

THE PORTS WERE WONDERFUL:  WE SNORKELED IN COCOCAY, SAW FISH AND A STINGRAY AND OF COURSE THE  "COOK OUT" WAS GREAT.  THEN ST. THOMAS -CORAL WORLD AND SNORKELING AT COKI BEACH WAS FUN.  AND ST. MAARTEN'S BEACH RESORT AND BEACH BY THE AIRPORT WERE MAGNIFICENT!

WE RELAXED OUT TO SEA FOR 2 DAYS; ENJOYING PUTT-PUTT, OUTSIDE MOVIES BY THE POOL IN THE EVENING, HOT TUBS, 3D MOVIES, DREAMWORK PARADE, ETC.

SO MUCH TO DO!  CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK AND DO MORE!

OK but not great by jturel

Shows were outstanding. Beds were hard. Steward was bossy. Food was mediocre. This ship is probably better for children and young people tan for older couples like us.

Enjoyed the cruise and the ship by KimmiRoRo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Had a great time on the 5/24/15 sailing. We had quite a few medical emergencies during the cruise with one causing us to turn back to Canaveral at the start of the trip thereby losing half of the day at Labadee. Would have liked to have had more time there. Really enjoyed going to Grand Cayman as it had such a much nicer, cleaner feel to it than the other ports. Wish they hadn't renovated and taken the larger night club away as all of the young 20 year olds were packed into the former Viking Crown room with the older crowds. The mixologists in the R bar were awesome. I enjoyed the ship and the few shows that we went to were pretty good. Would love to sail this ship again.

Great value by deborahab

Great service, lots of activities to chose from, comfortable rooms with great storage space for a cruise room, impressed with presence of executive staff throughout the cruise, smooth check-in and debarkation, great family experience, highly recommend specialty dining (Chops Grille was great night out for mom and dad while older teens had fun chowing at Johnny Rockets), some gluten free options on buffet (needs improvement) and plenty of gluten free accommodations made in the main dining and specialty restaurants, quality entertainment/shows, has something for everyone

Had a good time. by coyledb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

Had a Good Time.  Very nice ship and room. BIG. Food was OK. Had better on other cruises. Great cabin stewart.  Staff to clean tables and serve drinks seemed low. Seemed to have cut back from other cruises. Drinks cost too much for amount of alcohol they put in.

Excellent cruise and amazing ship!!!!!  Entertainment, choice of anything at all you wanted to do, eat or drink!!!!  I would definitely take and cruise or sail on Freedom of the Seas again.  The crew go above and beyond to make your entire experience special.  It's amazing how they get to know you in just seven days.

Freedom of the Seas by hrconn6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Ship was AWESOME. Very clean, room were very comfortable. Not happy with everything on the ship being a extra charge. They should go up on prices and let cup cakes, ice cream, and coke products be free. Adding the gratuity to your sea pass card stinks. It's a gratuity you should be able to tip on the service you get, it shouldn't be mandatory. If they don't collect enough money to pay the help they should add it to the price of the cruise. Also, the food gets very old fast need to change it up day after day same old broiler food or pasta not everybody likes pasta "yuk yuk". Every time we went to port we had to hurry because the ship didn't stay there very long it made your time on shore exhausting and rushed. I most likely would go RC again but not this same cruise to much sea time.

Friendly Staff = Good Time by beamit2me

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Freedom of the Seas is a beautiful ship with many activities choices for all age groups.  I am 82 traveling with my family.  The ship was easy to navigate once I figured out the layout.  The staff in the Windjammer and the Dining room at late seating were so helpful and sincerely nice people.  The good was always good in all areas of the ship.  I had a mechanical problem with my walker and asked my room steward Richard who was in charge of my room, cabin 3554 if he could find someone to fix it.  He accepted the challenge willingly and fixed it better than new!  He saved my cruise experience.  Thank you Richard and Thank you Royal Caribbean for an outstanding vacation.

Freedom of the Seas is a great ship. by jkroad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a great cruise that we took to enjoy the ship more than the stops.  We only ever got off for a few hours and enjoyed the ship and balcony room, the rest of the time.  We noticed that the crew was very happy to work on this ship and said multiple times that many had worked on others, but it was not as nice as the Freedom of the Seas and the Captain's management team.  Things were not always perfectly running, but anytime there was a maintenance issue it was resolved in hours.  The Cruise Director also was very entertaining all the time.

We called this imported Jamaica, since this was the nicest part of the island we could see from the ship.  Many locals worked these shops and it was very nice, clean and safe.

Best Vacation Ever! by jmoore11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I went for our honeymoon and we had a blast! It was our first cruise and we will definitely look to cruise again. The cruise was great because my wife likes to hang out by the beach and I like to be active and do things. The cruise was able to accommodate both of our needs. The service on the ship was excellent! The ship was clean and you can tell that the employees care about their jobs. The food was excellent! We went to Chops Grille and had the best steak ever! Make sure you do shore excursions, especially in Jamaica. There is not a whole lot to do in Jamaica unless you do a shore excursion. Royal Caribbean and their staff are top notch!

Beautiful ship, BUT... by SunPRN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were very excited about our first Royal Caribbean cruise, and were not disappointed in this beautiful ship with so many amenities, however we had a few bad experiences. We booked our shore excursions on the first full day on the ship, and the staff booked us on the wrong excursion. Instead of a catamaran/snorkel tour we got a bus tour with a beach stop. Ruined the entire day! All because they had the same number, just one had letters also. We wrote the correct code down, but in haste the rep booked the wrong one. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, but guest services sent a note to our cabin three nights in a row stating our credit card could not be authorized, so we were stressed about what could have possibly gone wrong, stood in line three nights in a row at the guest services desk only to be told everything was fine. GRRRR!!! And then, while the dining staff were excellent, we had to send food back on more than one occasion because it was cold. We are not picky people, but these annoyances really took a toll on our enjoyment factor. Never had any problems with the 8 Carnival cruises I have taken.

Service Excellent; Food Good, but Not Great by EagleMama

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Windjammer and Dining Room food was sub par and reminded me and my husband of a Golden Corral buffet. As such, we had to upgrade to a premium dining package ($280 for both of us for the week) so we could eat at the better restaurants every night.

However, the staff was amazing. In regards to service:

The dining staff: Elvira in Leonardo's, Bien Bayais, Michael Luna, Toma Kusic, Amanda Frederick, and Greggie in Chomps. I could not believe how much they remembered about us and our preferences and/or went above and beyond to exceed our expectations.

Room Steward: Iwayan Panca Adnyana absolutely thrilled us with his greetings in the hall and towel creations. Additonally, there were times when we left for a short period (didn't put the make up the room sign out) and would come back to an emptied trash can, made bed, and/or replaced towels. He was spectacular.
