Changed to Western Caribbean due to Hurricane by caustin1223

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had an amazing time! It was fun and relaxing! We had an opportunity to spend time together as a family and experience things that we wouldn't ordinarily do on vacation. We tried new things and new foods. It was expensive, but it was fun, and we have a lot of great memories!!!

Again, it was a wonderful and unforgettable experience that I recommend to all my family and friends and that I would repeat at some point if it were possible.

Royal Carribean would not work with us and change our embarkation date. We did not want to go to these ports, because we had been there 3 times already. Only went because could not get a change or refund. I will not use Royal Carribean again! by Klodhopper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was disappointed that we did not get to go to St. Kitts, San Juan, or St. Martin. We had been 3 times to all the ports but Haiti. I was very dissapointed that Royal Carribean would not work with us and change our departure date to later so we could visit the original ports-of-call. The personnel we talked to were very obnoxious and not very helpful. Due to this, I have no intentions of cruising with your cruise line again. Will & Diane Patterson

A perfect experience by scott50660161

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

A perfect experience all around. The ship is perfectly sized and I never felt like it was too big or too small. The staff was always friendly and smiling.

A good way for getting from Europe to the US with young children. Overall a very good experience. by mdukes15616250

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

An excellent 2-week vacation. With young children the ports of call are not of great interest and excursions are difficult. So, from our point of view the ports of call were not of any real interest.

Best family vacation yet by JJJLara

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We all loved it! Great family vacation! There was something for everyone. It was comfortable to be there with kids, elegant but not too stuffy. We will definitely be cruising with Royal again.

Incredible 7 Night Mediterranean Cruise In The Calm Waters Off The Coast Of Europe by Partcentpc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall, our cruise was fantastic. We would do it again. This was our 12 cruise total, but our 1st cruise on Royal Caribbean. We may cruise with Royal again, or we may go back to Carnival. It is undecided at this time. This is probably not the best cruise to spend money on the drink packages, because, if you visit each port, by the time you get back to the ship and have dinner, it's time to get some sleep (even for us young people), as you have to be up early in the morning in order to travel great distances to see the next port. This is unlike the Caribbean where you just step off the ship, grab some beers and tacos and stroll about your day. We felt like seeing these cities was equivalent to going to work every day! You won't need to buy the internet package on the ship if you have cell service, since you can get service from shore even while the ship is at see on all days except for the last at sea day where the ship cuts across the Mediterranean Sea from Naples to Barcelona. Save your money, and only buy it on the last day.

Very good sampling of the Western Mediterranean. by roncowboysfan

Very good sampling of the Western Mediterranean. However, it would be nice to reduce the number of ports so that you could spend more time at the most popular ports.

President's cruise is the best cruise by bethandfredhome

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Next year's President's cruise will be very different in the Caribbean. This was amazing in every way. If you don't care about the ports, the President's cruise is absolutely the best cruise for special extras compared to any other cruise.

Great Cruise, Great Ports by pp77gg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was my 5th cruise on Royal Caribbean. The Freedom of the Seas ship was a big improvement over my other ships. I chose this cruise for the destinations and was not disappointed. The WaveRunner was amazing to watch. Very nice to have a basketball/soccer court plus the min-golf.

Excellent! by BethanneN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

One of the best vacations we have been on. The ports are intersting and offered many beautiful choices. It is hard to just pick one thing to do, knowing you will miss other things. there are far more excursions available ship board than the ones offered on line. I recommend grabbing a few before you go and booking the rest as soon as you get on board Sunday.

Not our best cruise by IDCruiser008

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was a really disappointing cruise, and we will likely not be sailing with Royal Caribbean again. It felt like the people on the cruise are overworked, or something... they did not treat us as though this was a special vacation or like they had any pride in their work. I felt like I was the one trying to cheer them up.

Great Itinerary, smooth sailing, by landboater

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

It is always nice to have a suite (this was a jr suite). Spacious suite & veranda. Bed was comfortable. Not enough electrical outlets however for a room that holds 3-4 people. Only had 1 outlet and we had 2 tablets, a phone, 2 camera with batteries, a curling iron, & a hair straightener, all needing that one outlet! Typical big ship-too big when you need to disembark or get back on, elevators insufficient, ridiculous 2 hour taxi stand wait. Food was pretty good. Had 2 formal nights but never had the semi formal evening. Could not hear the announcements in our room which was annoying. Did not care for the onboard activities-not suitable for seniors or people with mild physical challenges (rock wall, ice skating, wave riding). Mini golf was nice & shuffleboard. However, we love table tennis and could not use any of the 4 tables because they were all within the children's area & were being used by children who did not even tall enough to really be playing ping pong on a normal sized table. Made no sense. The pools were adequate. Our veranda was disappointing because it had an obstructed view off the rear of the ship. This had not been disclosed. There were a lot of pillars and beams so that we could not take nice photos. And if we looked down, all we saw was the huge veranda of the suite below us. And the occupants of that suite were unhappy because people on an upper public deck were throwing cigarette butts down onto their veranda (fire hazard? unsightly). We had paper airplanes landing on our veranda- not really a problem but weird. The rear verandas have no breeze at all- a bit disappointing. And the distance to any elevator is extreme. The service was good, but it is usually good when traveling with attractive older teenage girls!

Family Vacation by mcmahanbetsy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We had a great cruise experience. Our room attendant, Ralph, was extremely pleasant and kept our room looking great. The cruise director, Mercedes, was awesome. We loved the various shows and her sense of humor.

Our only complaint was about the food, especially in the dining room. It was well below expectations in quality and the service was poor. We gave up on the dining room after a few days, as the food was not worth the long wait each night.

Great service by jvce

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

our favorite part of the cruise was the service we received from our waiters at dinner and our room server. They all made us feel special despite the thousands of people in the cruise.

the shows and activities on board were varied and of very good quality.

things to improve: add at least one more ice cream station by the pool and keep them open for a longer time.

Summer of 2017 by Cruiser43871520

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Our most pleasant experience was dinner with our waiters & our excursions off the ship.

We were disappointed with the entire experience.  The quality of the food was not what I have experienced in prior RC cruises.  Deserts were not that great and the cheese plate was not what we experienced on past RC cruises.

We ordered room service for breakfast 3 times and only received it once.  Which was a disappointment because we had early excursions and had no time to eat in the dining area.  The one time we did get breakfast only half was delivered and we had to wait while they brought the other half.  They apologized and brought us treats to make up for it. I have never been disappointed by RC before.

Then in our room we ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for more.  This was after our room had been serviced and cleaned clearly an overiste.

We met some really nice bartenders from Jamaica all 4 we met were really nice, friendly and happy. We met others that were not so friendly.

We were too exhausted from our excursions and the time change to see any shows.  So i cannot comment on that.

first timer by cconsomer61

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

this was my first cruise, didnt know what to expect. was very thankful the waters were calm. the food was good, not great. the service was excellent. we did wish there was a better drink package available. 1. we do not drink sugary soft drinks, and 2. we are are not heavy alcohol drinkers. it would have been nice if there was lite wine package, one or two glasses with dinner. bottled water should be included at all times. Most of our excursions where good. at least one we thought should have left the ship earlier. we barely made it back on time. all in all it was a good first time experience.

Mediterranean Cruise by Cruiser7055757

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The accommodations on the cruise ship were great as we got a cabin with a balcony. We were a group of 10 and we were all on the same deck. The service was excellent and the customer service desk was very accommodating with money exchange. The food and variety was also good. Some of the excursions were full. It would have been nice if more guided tours with trolley transportation were available. The best part was in Capri as my son had his wedding there.

Mediocre cruise by kitbuschman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Nothing was particularly good or bad. It seemed the staff were mostly going through the motions, and that they really were tired of people and crowds.  The food was the same old mediocrity.  At the sit down dining, the finer items were removed from the menu, and what choices we had in meats seemed like they sat under the warmer too long and dried out.  Also, with the exception of communicating all of the sales and buying options, the normal communication was confusing, and on several occasions written and verbal communications conflicted with other written or verbal instructions.

Then, to add extra pain, Royal Carribean charged the highest tips of any cruise we have ever taken.  This was our first and probably last cruise with Royal Caribbean.
