Great cruise on the Freedom of the Seas. The ship was in good shape and our balcony cabin was plenty spacious. The staff was very attentive and the ports were interesting. Most places it seemed like you could wing it with your port tours.

Review summary

Overall we loved the cruise. Don't plan too much ahead of time. It is very easy and organized at each port to do your own tours. Besides how many sight seeing tours in a van smooshed in with strangers do you want to do. Stops were great. Ship was great and service was great!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Service was great. Food was mediocre. Drinks were expensive. If you are thinking that you might have more then 3 drinks a night and want some waters and other drinks, buy the drink package.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the pools and hot tubs, and the Flow Rider was cool too.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The show on the last night was great. Wish the comedians were earlier - could not stay up long enough for the late night show as we had to be up too early for our excursions.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was top notch!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It's going in for another update but is in pretty good shape and even though it is huge, we did not feel like there were long waits or that we suffered due to the number of people on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin was large and comfortable. But we had a problem as did a few cabins to our left and right with vibrations coming up through the floor from the engines even though we were on the 9th floor. We complained, they offered to move us. First night was the worst of it. Whole bed shook.

Ship tip

Get a room forward or back from midships. The closer you are to midship the more likely you will feel the vibrations we had. And buy the drink package, it will make life easier and is worth it.

We took the ferry to St. John and snorkeled at Trunk Bay. Easy to do on your own and it was beautiful.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

We did a tour with Island Escape Taxis and Tours and Bobby Lilburd was great. Got a lot of local info, clean car, personal touch.

No excursion, had a family friend tour us around. Not much to see but go to Turner's Beach if you can. Beautiful!

Castries, St. Lucia

Went to the beach. Did not like the guys pestering you to buy crap on the beach but once you said no 1-2x they left you be. They were also selling drugs. But it still felt safe and was a pretty beach.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Loved Barbados, in port for the longest time. Very clean and pretty. Did a drive around tour in the morning and then went to Carlisle Bay for the beach in the afternoon. Fun last port and we will be back!

Customs line was very long. Get off early if you need to be anywhere.
