Review summary

Truly the only thing I would say negatively about this cruise is there is a real lack of food options between 3:30-6pm - which if you have a 6pm dining time this wouldn't effect you. We had a late seating so didn't eat at conventional times as did some of the fellow cruisers we met and this seemed to be the only disappointment. It is a fantastic ship with funny comedians, good entertainment and eager-to-please staff - I would highly recommend it!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fastest embarking experience, arrived at the terminal at 12:30pm and was on the ship within 20 minutes all checked in

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Service was fantastic, absolutely 5 star, the dining room had a good selection of dinner choices, however quality of food was average. Ate at Chops grill one night really wasn't that impressed, ambiance and food quality was just ok, I didn't feel it was worth the upgrade. We ate at Johnny Rockets one afternoon after being at beach all day, burgers were good and service was great!

Café Promenade

5 out of 5

Great specially coffees - friendly service

Chop's Grille

2 out of 5

Really not impressed, when paying for a steakhouse over and above what you get in the dining room this is not worth it. We often do one night upgrade on every sailing and this was by far the lest impressive - I would put it a solid 3 star maybe 4 star - the menu choices look great on the menu but the food itself is bland and just average. Presentation is average and service is ok - I felt the dining room provided better dining experiences!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
This was a busy itinerary so was not able to use all the facilities - loved the flowrider and the rock climbing wall

Casino Royale

4 out of 5

Lots of gaming options, not so lucky this cruise!

Flowrider

5 out of 5

A little intimidating when people are watching but hey everyone wipes out! Loved it!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We loved the evening shows, saw El gaucho (hilarious), once upon a time, mo5aic, and Kivi Rogers (perhaps the funniest stand up comedian I have seen in any venue ever, I laughed so hard I was crying for 80 percent of his show) extremely entertaining!

Arcadia Theater

5 out of 5

Watched a 3D movie one night, live entertainment was great!

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
I brought my 2 kids 18-20 - disappointed with how little organized activities they offered for this specific age group - would have been nice for them to have a venue for a meet and greet on day 1 or day 2 much like Carnival offers. There were still lots of activities for all ages so my kids had a fantastic time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Can't say enough, staff were fantastic - our room steward was great, our dining room waiters were great, bartenders were great, service on this ship was impeccable!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Although the ship shows her age everything is clean, love the design and layout - never felt crowded!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Standard balcony room, Myo our room steward was fantastic. I felt the balcony was a little bit bigger than other cruise line I've cruised with.

Ship tip

This is a great ship with lots to do - enjoy your cruise!

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
First time to San Juan, loved the beaches. Went to Guavate for the day would recommend it - like a festival every Sunday with pig roast and dancing - great friendly people!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Went to Magens Bay for the day, port was great, beautiful beach the only disappointment is the beach excursions with the ship are short next time would just hire a driver!

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
Beautiful beaches, did a beach excursion with the ship and again only 2 hours at the beach as this was my first time in Antigua would recommend a cab to the beach and enjoy a full day!

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Loved Barbados, did the Scenic island tour and Mount Gay tour - this was just a tasting tour, not a distillery tour so that was a little disappointing but our guide was funny and entertaining so still worthwhile.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
We did a private tour with Cosul tours would highly recommend them - it was a full 7 hour days went to the Pitons, snorkeled a bit, went to the mud baths and waterfall - great way to see this beautiful island!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
We did the Rhino rider excursion - it was a lot of fun and a great way to see the shorelines - amazing to see how many abandoned boats in the harbour still from hurricane Irma (eerie and fascinating)

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
My advice to future cruisers is get a Porter! We opted for the carry off your bags and we're literally off the ship in 10 minutes (Porter's have a separate line for immigration so you skip the crazy line ups)

Programs for 18 & 20 years olds. Are you serious? Carnival doesn't have that either. I am glad no one starved for those 2 and a half hours during the mid day.

If you eat at conventional times you will be fine - I’m a later eater so usually coffee around 7am lunch 3-4 pm and dinner at 8ish, having been on past cruises usually there are more offerings after 3 where here it was pizza or room service ($)or Johnny Rockets($) and most excursions are done around 3/4pm so this seemed to be a more common complaint for most people we spoke to returning to the ship who had a later dining room seating. It is certainly a great ship with many great things to do however this is one thing that I felt FOS could improve upon.
