Review summary

This was my third cruise and second to Alaska so I was expecting quality like I had on previous trips. My first issue was with the bed, while the room was extremely clean the bed was like sleeping on a rock and the crevice in the middle made sleeping with my husband uncomfortable. To add to that the sheets never stayed on the bed. My next complaint was the food. It was like eating in a cafeteria where there was no selection and the food was luckwarm. Also if you missed eating by 9 at night about the only thing you could get was sandwhiches which were good but I did not pay $2,000 to eat sandwhiches when I am hungry. The activities never felt Well planned or fully finished and there was not much to do other than dance or sing Karaoke which I can do at home. Over all I would not recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone.

The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on and the sheets would never stay on! The state room and restroom was very clean.

Ship tip

The food was boring and lackluster and it was like eating at a high school cafeteria. The entertainment staff was very friendly but the activities always felt half done and not very well prepared. Actually all the staff was extremely friendly and very diligent about their jobs.

Oh that's great to know. Thanks!

You just ask your cabin steward who will sort it for you

Debs2522- you mention bed toppers, do you know if they offer these on board? I found the mattress so hard last cruise on legend of the seas I was planning on bringing a lilo or something for the bed when we cruise again on explorer in Jan. Would be great to know if anyone else had actually used one provided by the ship

We've been on 4 different cruise lines , RCCL gave us our 2 best overall cruises. To each there own , right?

I've sailed on Rc Nav of the seas and I thought the windjammer buffet was so good that I skipped the first formal night in favor of the buffet, which is unheard of for me! Having said that though, i returned to Carnival because in my opinion it's just a funner crowd.. And I don't even party but it's fun to watch the freak show.

What's wrong with Princess. We've only had good experiences on their cruises.

Funny, I really wouldn't recommend any other line than RC. Maybe celebrity.

We are also going to try other lines as we have noticed the cut backs. You should of asked for a mattress topper for your bed. Nothing worse than an uncomfortable bed

As someone with over 200 days on Royal, we've noticed the quality of food and service deterioting over the past few years as they try to cut expenses. It appears that they're trying to satisfy the shareholders more than their customers. We have 1 more booked on Royal then we're jumping ship.
