Wonderful Mediterranean cruise on the Explorer of the Seas

Sail Date: September 02, 2015

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

We have cruised more than 25 times and this was one of the best cruises we have ever taken.  The crew on the ship made us very comfortable: wonderful wait staff, a dynamic and very personable cruise director, a captain that was caring, approachable and funny (you had to see him drive the zamboni as well as sing a song at the welcome back functions).

The ports were wonderful and very well selected. Wish we had more time in Malaga and Seville - but at least we got a taste of these ports.

Cabin / Stateroom
Very convenient to the elevators. Recently implemented tea/coffee makers in the cabin were a wonderful convenience.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Very quick and efficient. Embarkation was smooth. No rush at debarkation, walked off the ship after a leisurely breakfast, picked up our luggage and were outside of port in 15 minutes.
Ship Quality
Wonderfully kept up to date. The information screens were perfect for finding out anything you needed. They were everywhere.
Destinations and Excursions
Fell in love wit h Spain. Loved touring Gibraltar and learning about it's history
Onboard Activities
Nice variety of shows. Give them credit as it is hard to do so well on a 16 day cruise
Service and Staff
Extremely attentive
Food and Dining
Tasteful and nicely varied.
Gibraltar (U.K.)
Barcelona, Spain
Cannes, France
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
If you plan on visiting the Vatican Museum, go early! It gets very crowded as the day goes on.
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
Cagliari, Sardinia
If you are not a beach goer, plan a trip to the excavation at Nona.
Malaga, Spain
Lisbon, Portugal
