Great Alaska Cruise by tesselstyn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was the first cruise we have been on since 2019 and it is apparent much thought has been put into simplifying embarkation and disembarkation to minimize large queue's of people, well assuming people can follow directions, that is. Many folks seemed to have problems with the Verifly and ArriveCAN app. They seemed easy and straight forward to me. I would encourage people to figure out how to use those app's, as it really does simplify things and avoids standing in an hour long line. The muster station drill has been vastly improved and takes maybe 10 minutes of your time instead of much more in the days when we had to gather and wait for a demonstration to teach us how to fasten a life jacket. We enjoyed the ports, but in hind sight wish we would have done a longer cruise that allows for more time to be spent in the ports. I've never been on a cruise with only ~4 hrs in port and that was the case for 3 of the ports. Overall the cruise was a hit with us, the crew were great, the buffet and MDR had typical cruise food and the specialty restaurants were excellent. The ports of call were interesting and some excellent excursions are available. I would recommend that for the Icy Point Straight port, that you either book an excursion, or just stay onboard as there really is nothing else there . . . a few shops and that's about it.

Great Alaskan Crusie by 3rGjQhjUceKXPK5akaCuyFlDG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Finally made it to Alaska. Beautiful place. Holland America is a great cruise line. Like the quietness and relaxed atmosphere. Staff is very friendly. Only downside is the shot time spent on ports like Victoria. Four hours is not enough to see this beautiful city.

The itinerary was great. I love Alaska and will keep returning. However, this is my second cruise in a row on Eurodam and I found it mediocre both times.

Vacation of a life time by marybussey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

The views were breath taking, would have liked more port time in Ketchikan - it was amazing, by far my favorite and cruising Glacier Bay was magnificent- we saw eagles, brown bear, otters, seals and a hump back whale. Will definitely return.

First Cruise Ever Was Amazing by TrynitiDejavu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

For my first cruise, my experience was amazing, I can see what all the fuss is abou.. I am hooked on cruising! I can wait for my next one. Even inexperienced with cruising I can see that Alaska is a place that I can cruise to many times and still have a different experience each time.

Finally, Alaska! by Beav

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

After so many Caribbean cruises, we finally made it to Alaska. So happy we upgraded to a balcony because the scenery from our verandah was spectacular. So many items checked off my bucket list, including many I didn't know should've been on there: Alaska, Canada, Helicopter, Dogsledding, Seaplane, etc.

Had a memorable experience by singhaa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Nice clean ship, had seen upgrades. Room on 5th floor had seen less traffic compared to room on 1st  floor. Food at Lido restaurant was great - servers held on to their nerves quite well - inspite of heavy traffic. Decent pool, jacuzzi, entertainment and learning experiences. Efficient port visits.

Great way to relax by lbarlow2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Transatlantic

I was unsure of the cruise with so may days at sea but they allow me to really relax and when we hit  land (not literally) we were eager to go ashore and had a wonderful time.

The crew, I felt really tired hard to help everyone have a good time and to find what was wanted. They were excellent.

p First of all, Thanks to... by slara1961

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

p First of all, Thanks to Meet On Cruise for providing a great service. The Countdown Clock and other features helped us to meet people before the cruise. Thank you. p stronguBoarding/u/strong p Only 20 minutes from dropping off the luggage on the pier until we got to our cabin. Very fast and professional. p stronguThe Eurodam/u/strong p With only being 3 years old, she is still in great shape. J.T. the Cruise Director was great and DJ Jazzy (a seasoned veteran of Holland America Line) made the cruise fun. p The ship is clean and for the first couple of days, the staff on the Lido deck help prevent on board sickness by handing you items. Very smart. p stronguThe Ports/u/strong p As my friend Mom2Cats said in her review, the seas were rough the first couple of days and I was VERY upset we didn#39;t stop at Grand Turk, but the other ports were great. The one thing I would suggest is do NOT go to Megan#39;s Bay in St. Thomas. VERY crowded. p ustrongDisembarkation/strong/u p It was fast. Long line but moved quickly. p ustrongOverview/strong/u p Had a great time at the Meet and Greet at the beginning of the cruise. Met the Cruise Director and Hotel Manager and other guests. Had a great time and highly recommend Holland America Line. Follow me on Twitter @scottlara1961, check out my YouTube videos under slara1961 and be sure to tune in to CruiseRadio.net as I will be interviewed about the cruise. p Scott Lara, Jacksonville, Florida

Fun, Quick Cruise! by breerob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Eurodam

This cruise was short and sweet! This was a perfect trial cruise for my mom who gets seasick and she loved it. We had a great time exploring the ship and trying lots of food. Now that we know she can handle a cruise, we will definitely be doing more!

Fun overnight party cruise! by LisaKitty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Eurodam

I love that some cruise lines do these overnight cruises at the beginning and end of Alaska cruise season. It's a fun way to spend a weekend, without committing to a full cruise vacation.

Beautiful Alaskan Cruise, with fantastic weather 6 of 7 days! by rpmchers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We loved the ship and the balcony cabin was great! The bathroom is oversized for a ship. There was plenty to do and the entertainment was as good as any other cruise ship. The only complaint I had was with the dining room. On the day that we were at sea until we pulled in to Victoria at 6 PM, they closed the dining room for lunch and everyone on the ship was crowded into the buffet to eat lunch. No trays, so had to pick up a few things at a time and find a table to set them down......which was almost impossible because of the number of people that had to had to eat there because the dining room was closed. At dinner, we were relegated to the lower dining room that was quite noisy because they messed up our reservation. The food was average.

Overall, my very first trip was amazing! by Jocarta

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Simply put, I loved living on a floating mini city, where my every need was attended to.  Could retire cruising around forever if I didn't have horses.

We just had one glitch!  At the finish of one lunch hour, while they were setting up for the next meal service, my husband noted one waiter picking his nose then going right back to setting glassware on the tables.  At almost the same moment, another waiter sneezed into his bare hands, and continued to set up the silverware.  This was reported to the proper food manager.  From that point on, we are sure there was a conversation with the crew, as we observed every server being closely watched, for these, or similar unconscious behaviors.  We are sure they were given an updated training on hygiene.  Very impressed !

Good value, and a quiet environment by artistgranny

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Eurodam / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the Eurodam, especially after spending four nights on a Carnival cruise in January, where finding a quiet place to read or talk was impossible.  Yes, there were children on the ship, but they were well behaved and a pleasure to watch as they enjoyed themselves or amused their parents.  Cruisers were in general a quieter crowd, and it seemed there were more peaceful spots to settle without interruption. Among the pleasant places were the library, with lots of books borrow and games to play, and several jigsaw puzzles awaiting attention, and the Lincoln Center area, where fine music took place several times a day, or one could just sit quietly other times. Even the deck had plenty of space, despite the presence of those new annoyances, private cabanas, which strike me as a silly affectation!  The staff were attentive without being aggressive salesmen (waiters and store staff).  The ship was clean, decks swabbed every night, linens spotless, towels plentiful and large.  The digital workshop in conjunction with Windows is a great free amenity, really helpful and fun as well, not to be missed, especially if you are about to change to Windows 10.  There were so many activities available at any time one usually had to choose among them, and I found myself rushing from one end of the ship to the other to catch a trivia game or a demonstration.

Embarkation was a bit laborious, but dividing the group in half from the start gave one the feeling the line was manageable.  And disembarkation was grand, as passengers were allowed to remain in their cabins until their number was called, so there wasn't the usual irritated crowd of people lounging around in every public space.  Upon return from each port we were greeted with cold towels and lemonade or water, very welcome after a hot excursion.  And I really like the "private island" concept where one is not barraged by demands to buy souvenirs.  The food was ok, but some dishes could have used more flavor or less cooking. Service in the main dining room was good, but not always as fast as one would have liked. The Lido was probably the better place to eat if one didn't mind carrying food around and seeking out an empty table.

The issue of smoking:  There are still areas on board where smoking is allowed, but given the older crowd even the casino did not seem as obnoxiously smoky as it might have been.  Smoking on the balconies is still permitted, and occasionally impinged on our pleasure in sitting outside.  This issue naturally varies from cabin to cabin, cruise to cruise, so you take your chances with it.  Yes, I would recommend this trip.
