If you like a cocktail before dinner, take advantage of their buy one get a second one for a dollar in the Ocean bar or Crow's Nest.
Take a little cash to Canada.
You will pay for Bottled water. Try to educate yourself to all possibilities of shipboard life. We never found all of the info - they did not provide us with enough info. Read Reviews. Ours is 5-star. Haven't read other reviews yet, but I can't imagine what world people are living in that went on our cruise and gave a bad review.
Enjoy every minute of it.
BB King Blues club was fun! If you do not want to get fancy for Gala Night in Dining Room, they had the same menu on the Lido.
If the seas get rough find the ginger.
The Crowsnest allowed fabulous views while being inside in comfort.
If you can afford it, get a Neptune Suite. It is like being on a different ship from the rest of the passengers.
Don't miss the BB King show.
Ask for "house wine". Otherwise the menu only has name brands at $$.$$
The Silk Den was always a quiet bar with a great view...an alternative to the Crowsnest.
Book all that you can in advance through HAL's website, such as wine packages, spa packages, massage, etc... it avoids having to rush around when you arrive and you can enjoy just exploring the ship. Whatever happens, relax and enjoy it! You aren't working!
Anytime dining was a little spotty. Make reservations early.
This was an older crowd and smaller ship. With the rough waters we encountered a larger ship would have been better. If you are young and have a family that would like to meet others your age take a different cruise line. This ones appears to cater to an older crowd - over 65
Try not to get a stateroom under a common deck, like the Lido where the pool and restaurant are, or above or below the casino, mainstage, etc. It could be noisier than others. Otherwise, get ready for a great time.
Go and enjoy
Don’t miss the musical offerings in smaller venues.
Try not to get a room on the 8th floor - too noisy. We used a new travel agency and after telling the travel agent - I am prone to Motion sickness and suffer from PTSD - she put us on the 8th floor under the LIdo deck.(In the back of the ship) Nothing like waking up at 5 am with someone dropping a chair.
Be sure to visit both the Pinnacle and the Tamourin restaurants! They are exceptionally good. We also enjoyed the thermal pool in the spa.
Bring a sweatshirt. Inside the ship in the shows was very cold.
