Review summary

For my first cruise, my experience was amazing, I can see what all the fuss is abou.. I am hooked on cruising! I can wait for my next one. Even inexperienced with cruising I can see that Alaska is a place that I can cruise to many times and still have a different experience each time.

I mostly ate at the buffet and the food was delicious and plenty of it. I tried the burger place and yummm.

The shows were enjoyable. We had one of the native Alaskans on board for our glacier day and he was funny and informative.

Our room stewards would always open our room door for us. Wonderful and personal job.

Cabin / Stateroom

I was surprised at how much room we had. The beds were like sleeping on a cozy, comfortable cloud!

Ship tip

I had only read a little about cruising before this trip. I wish I had tried the main dining room. So, don't just do the buffet! :)

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We didn't spend time here, except to and from the airport. It was a pretty drive though.

Juneau, Alaska

Really pretty port. Wandered around the town mostly. Visited the Red Dog Saloon, I would recommend at least going in. My excursion was the Salmon Bake, it was decent food. It was surprisingly at a industrial park, but once you headed out behind it, the falls were so pretty.

Cruise Glacier Bay

BEAUTIFUL! The water is amazing as you cruise in. Our Captain is a fan of the bears, and when a trio was spotted, he brought the ship almost to a standstill so we could observe them. We had a Forest Service representative as well as native Alaskan, they were both very informative. The glaciers were breathtaking. We observed them from the bow of the ship, where we were served hot split pea soup. What an experience.

Sitka, Alaska

This was by far my favorite port. I could move here! The scenery was picturesque. Walked down to the totem park and museum before heading back to town for fish and chips at The Pub. We finished our day with a whale watching excursion.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Very fun port. Lots of shopping here. Just walked around looking at what was in town. I enjoyed seeing all the cruise ships lined up here, I believe there were four.

Victoria, British Columbia

This city is very pretty. We took a hop on hop off bus tour. We only had 4 hours here, so we just rode the bus around. I'd love to go back and see more.

Disembarkation

Very easy. We had the option for the ship to print our plane tickets, so they knew what time we needed to leave. We got off the ship in plenty of time to make our flight. Our bags were checked for us by Holland American. Very smooth.
