7 Night Alaskan Explorer With Glacier Bay (Seattle Roundtrip)

Review summary

One regret is that we didn't purchase any "Wild caught, fresh frozen, Alaskan King Salmon" to have shipped home on our timeline. No kidding, the bangers aboard the Eurodam were EXCELLENT and I wish I could have purchased some of those. Wonderful ship. By the time they conducted the safety drill, I already had a firm grasp of how to get around anywhere aboard. The crew was very friendly and attentive. If I get back to Ketchikan I'd like to tour the fiords by plane. We've been on a Caribbean cruise with a different cruise line since Alaska and my wife & I both agree we liked the Eurodam AND her crew better than our first and only experience with R.C.

Crow's Nest

Fabulous. We were with friends we hadn't seen in 19 years aboard this cruise. Bob & I met early each morning in the Crow's Nest to catch up with coffee and a tremendous view of our surroundings.

Lido Market

Buffet. Excellent food. We particularly enjoyed the wall of glass. We managed to get a table at the glass for just about every meal which afforded us a fantastic view and included topics for discussion.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our interior cabin was definitely clean with a comfortable bed and that's most important. Even considering the average size of cruise ship cabins ours was among the smallest. Every cubic foot counts when you're constantly shuffling your luggage around to do this or that. We were aft and L O V E D being gently rocked to sleep each night. We would book another interior cabin although we'd TRY to secure one just a wee bit larger.

Ship tip

The Crow's Nest was essentially empty at 0600 and still offered a fair amount of seating at 0700. Terrific location to enjoy your coffee and a panoramic view.

Cruise Glacier Bay

We enjoyed every port of call but without ANY doubt, Glacier Bay was the highlight of the cruise. I tell people considering an Alaskan cruise, "Don't book one that doesn't include a day cruising through Glacier Bay". Everyone uses the word "Beautiful" to describe the sights in G.B. and IT IS for sure but the word I would use in conjunction is "Rugged". That is some rugged country. In addition to all the glaciers, the HEIGHT of some of the peaks you'll see is really impressive.
