Alaska is always a Great Cruise vacation. The bonus was no rain the whole time except for 5 minutes in Juneauš. First time to Glacier Bay, which should be a MUST for anyone who hasnāt been yet! HAL Eurodam was as great as expected
Embarkation
5 out of 5
In order by Letter, which we were āCā and fine to keep the order on Embarkation day. Always like the stateroom being ready s soon as Iām board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
DR was very good as HAL always is. Pinnacle was top notch and always go at least a couple of times during the week. I really like Lido with the various options for breakfast and lunch, switching up some things everyday, and the way you get your food, ie, they fill the plate with what you want unlike a typical buffet if you are doing it yourself.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Pool area was good, except Top was closed most of the time and shouldnāt have been with the warm weather in AK. Definitely recommend getting a Cabana for the day at seas(prices varied each day, but worth it).
I still want to try Test Kitchen and some other things, which I hear are good. Do the bar hop they have one night... it was a good and fun crowd.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
HAL has good onboard entertainment. The comedian and magician were actually very goodš. Casino staff was one of the best I have experienced!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff were very nice, pleasurable and exhibited great service with a smile and a happiness for you to be on the ship. Our steward was always pleasurable and said hello, etc. Room was always made up and clean everyday he was in there at least the usual twice per day.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
All ships have their uniqueness with pros(and I guess cons, yet I really donāt see it or pay attention to that as itās a cruise vacation... no need to be a glass half empty kind of person... itās a freaking cruiseš). That being said, I found no cons on Eurodam, as I have been on HAL before and like the way their ships are laid out.
As for cleanliness, room was always, and as around the ship. I also believe over 50% of the time I went to a public restroom, a staff member was in there cleaning. From my experience on HAL, they always take pride in keeping up the cleanliness.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Signature suites on HAL are spacious enough with plenty of storage, enough room in the cabin to get around comfortably, relax without feeling confined, and a spacious BR with 2 sinks, shower and tub. Would like medicine cabinets for more storage though in there. Iāve always done SS on HAL but want to check out either Neptune or Pinnacle this fall on next HAL Cruise. Steward always kept the room clean and order.
Ship tip
HAL is a cruiseline to relax, enjoy and have a great time. Donāt expect all the additional activities that RCCL, etc might offer from flow riders, slides, etc. These ships are nice too, as I enjoy those as well. On HAL you can definitely unwind and the ships are less ābusyā I guess you can say than many others. It isnāt the best for kids, yet my 6 year nephew had a great time on the ship, yet AK is different than say... a Caribbean cruise.
Victoria is great to see. Reason why you have to go there if you depart and come back from Seattle. Going out if Vancouver, you will be able to stay later in Ketchikan, which I personally would prefer to do.
5 stars for Sitka as the whale watching is always great with the otters, and fortress of the Bear is good to see once every couple of years. The town, no offense against the oldest city in AK, yet getting some food there is all I need besides a little walking around.
Ketchikan sometimes gets a bad wrap from people as they say itās the Key West of AK(touristy, etc.),yet I disagree.... go experience it for yourself. Good restaurants, shopping(caribou creek for knives, etc), Riverwalk, excursions, etc.
Want to stay here overnight or longer next time(so maybe a flight to AK instead of cruiseš) as, besides Juneau, there are other cities you wish you stay there overnight and have a couple of days to do as much as you want.
Quick and efficient as always. Once we left the room, which we always carry luggage off to save a little time, we were through customs on outside within 15 minutes, if not sooner.
