Review summary

This was my first cruise and I enjoyed it. I would like to take another cruise. I am sure I will take another one on Holland America. But I think I would like to try another cruise line just to compare. The ports we visited were very nice. The weather wasn't but that wasn't Holland America's fault. And although it rained on us it was never a real hard rain and it wasn't terribly cold. So I consider us lucky! Thanks Holland America for a nice vacation and a nice first cruise experience.

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was not open after 11:30 pm. Which wasn't too bad except for when you didn't get back on the ship until 11 pm. The room service food was not really that good and often didn't get what you ordered. The dining room and the specialty restaurants were wonderful!

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was wonderful. We only had one bad thing. There was a leak from the cabin next door and I was displaced for one night while they got it dried up. My cabinmate is very sensitive to smells. So after it was cleaned up she still could not stay in the cabin because of what she could smell. But they put her in a balcony cabin. I think they did a wonderful job making sure we were comfortable.

The only thing was when in the cruise terminal they were sending us almost out the door without our baggage. We told the security officers we needed out bags so they let us go back. It was like they were told show people how to get out of the building without reminding them to ask the passengers if they had luggage to pick up.

Doing Alaska in 55 days, will see how things compare to Princess (although just one ship in the Holland line is not a good baseline).
