Review summary

We were pleasantly surprised with the Eurodam based on the reviews we saw ahead of time that had us worried. The main dining room food is excellent, and you'd be fine eating there for every meal without having to book at one of their fancier locations. The boat is the right size, not too big, not too small. The entertainment is great and there's something for everyone. What's nice is that there aren't a ton of young children and despite some reviews, not a ton of extremely old folks. Yes, there are some old folks but not as bad as other reviews make it out to be. We met with family and did the cruise and all had a great time. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and has just about everything you need. It was perfect for us to spend time together, relax, and get to see Alaska for the first time. We were blessed with zero rain the entire trip which is hard to imagine, but I think even if there was some, we would have been comfortable anyway.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We love Seattle and Pikes Place Market and have been several times. We were lucky to have great weather both going and returning. I recommend folks doing their own thing in Seattle vs. an excursion.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Only wish there was more time in Juneau. Like 2 days! Juneau is great. We did the Mendenhall Glacier canoe and trek excursion with ABAK and can't say enough good things about ABAK and the time we had. This is a must-do that makes you appreciate the glaciers that much more. It's not for those who aren't up for some significant exercise to paddle for 2-5 miles and then spend some time hiking on the glacier. It's doable but you should be ready going into it. The ABAK staff is great.

Sitka, Alaska

3 out of 5
Sitka is neat but small. We didn't book an excursion and walked on our own in the town and saw the totem poles. Caught a cab to Fortress of the Bear to see the bears in protection and rehabilitating. A good stop though to stretch your sea legs. We saw several bald eagles in the National Forest.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Lots of shops and good food in Ketchikan. Neat history and plenty to see with Creek Street and roaming other areas.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Loved Victoria but this was a hard one as we were tired towards the end of the trip and debated about getting off the ship or not. Wish we had more time here and a port stop in the day vs. evening. There's plenty to see here and it's a foodie capital with lots of restaurants and shops.
