Been on HAL many times. First time ever being disappointed, which is why the 3 stars instead of the usual 5. Production shows looked unrehearsed Middle School productions. I learned the talent generally comes from London but this ship for production shows came from New York.
Not much to do, very low key, no announcements to speak of. 1st seating did not work with anything else. Told to be in dining room by 5 :15, doors opened at 5:30, staff at table #30 good first week, change in staff for second week, staff excellent. Food beautiful and delicious. No problem with special diet. Dinner never over before 7:15. Timing off with events surrounding dinner. Only saw Cruise director in Lido getting his salad. Never seemed to speak to anyone. CAC is great use of time and learning new cooking techniques.
Large Balcony cabin with wonderful foot stools and lounge chairs. Library was a life saver!

Cocktail hour before dinner was from 4 to 5 in Ocean Bar and Crow's nest. Be aware if you have first seating, it is smarter to have your buy one get one for$2 ( same drink, not two different drinks) in Ocean Bar. Going from 11 forward to 3 aft is quite a sprint!
