A little disappointed by BelmontPride

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cruises use to be all inclusive, this cruise is not. The food was average, if you wanted a lobster or filet it cost extra. Also, this ship only has one seating time (unless you want to pay extra) so the dining room is crowded and the service is slow. Just disappointed.

First time crusing with Royal Carribean by tswilliams

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

very pleased with the 3-day cruise with Royal Carribean. The crew members were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and well prepared. The entertainment was exciting and fun to watch. The private island was a wonderful experience. Two-tumbs up for the on-site spa at Cocoay Island! The cleaning crew was prompt and well organized. I would recommend this cruise line to all my family and friends.

had a great time by cruiselover29

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have nothing bad to say about RCC aside from the fact those rooms are so tiny. Great food, strong drinks and lots of wonderful staff. Lots of activities by the pool made it easy to make friends and even the music they played on board was good and recent. Planning my next cruise already!

First time on Enchantment of the Seas by Happycruiser67

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is beautiful, upgraded and easy to navigate. We were fans of Monarch and wanted to see how her replacement would be. We were not disappointed. Having a Diamond Lounge and the Solarium are positives. Capt Gus is great and can be proud of ALL of his crew and staff. Everyone was wonderful and very helpful. Our only negative is that we found the Windjammer hard to use, the traffic pattern and lay out seem to promote congestion. A great alternative is the the Park Cafe in the Solarium

Had a great time. Only issue i had was with food choices by Telecom99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I really enjoyed my time on the Enchantment of the Seas. The ship was nice and had plenty of areas to relax or party. The staff were nice and helpful. There were only two items that stopped me from submitting a higher rating: 1) The food choices. Not a lot of options for someone who does not eat pork. The dinner at the Captains formal was lacking in (cold)temperature and taste. 2) I informed the Royal Carib staff over the phone when i made my reservation that my wife and i were celebrating our 25th anniversary. Not acknowledged. Note: Dont ever select a cabin on this ship near the front of the boat (stateroom 3500 thru 3515. The anchor / ship to shore lines (whatever they are called) that they use to tether the boat to the dock are VERY loud and WILL startle you from your sleep.

RCC to Bahamas by CruiseFanatic98

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I had done RCC one other time and I do like this cruise line. I never seem to pick newer ships to cruise on but this older ship was much more manageable for finding your way around and with the addition it was really very.nice. The on board shopping was limited but there was some. I wish I had known the solarium also had breakfast as I would have enjoyed going there and enjoy the quiet. The cruise was too short to enjoy all the ship had to offer. The dinning room was very nice and the waiters and manager were extremely nice. Had a little mishap I. The dining room and they were very apologetic and concerned. Could not have been any nicer. Venito was our waiter and he was very sweet. Al out at the pool bar was really good with the drinks and friendly. I have done three private islands at this point and I have to say coco cay is the best. I could have spent more time there. I was sorry the sea was too rough for my parasail but respect theirs decision to cancel due to the rough seas. I would recommend this line however I would skip Nassau but that is just a personal preference I think Mexico holds better ports of call and still close for a short cruise

The cruise from Hell! by annkauf

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Following is based on a 1 to 10 grade. 1 being worse than terrible. 10 being excellent CONDITION OF THE SHIP ; 2 , ( it's old, run down and badly in need of paint) STATEROOM: 7, (was large, clean, and nicely furnished) PUBLIC AREAS; 4, (very uninspiring) MAIN RESTAURANT & BUFFET, 2 (food was mediocre at best; staff was disinterested,at best, and downright surly, at worst, and cleanliness was not a priority) SPECIALTY RESTAURANT; 1 (Chops Grille had a $30. p.p. upcharge with a very uneven food quality - truly not worth any upcharge) ITINERARY; 3 (great for RCCL's Bean Counters, but not so much for it's captives) OVERALL; 2 (from embarkation to disembarkation every aspect from physical plant, to service, to crew attitude wreaked of "customer-be-damned" My wife and I have been on 65+ cruises on virtually every cruise line and this experience was catagorically the worst we've ever had. Fred and Ann Kaufmann, Orlando, Fl.

Not our best cruising experience but had some good points. by JJL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We were pleased about the boarding experience and the room was nice. The biggest issue we has was with dining in the my fair Lady dining room. on our first night we were taken to a table of 6 or 8 when we requested dining for 2. If this was not available to us we would have liked to have been notified. We asked to have a different table and were passed from person to person and somewhat ignored as we stood against the wall. Finally in frustration we went to the service desk and a young lady tried to help us as we waited even longer on the wall feeling quite invisable. Finally my wife and I were brought to a table (about an hour had passed) and the waiter rushed us through as if we were a last minute nusance. We also observed the table next to us struggling for service as the womans steak was under cooked and sat for at least 20 min. before anything was done about it. We finally ate and left and were told by one of the wait staff that they would have better arrangements for us the next night. Our first impression was not a good one. The next evening was better but we felt a little strange sitting 2 on a table of 6 however the waiter was very nice and we had that waiter for the remainder of the trip. The ship was nice and the woman that took care of our room was very nice. The food was average. Overall 1st impressions mean a lot and if it wasn't for that we may have been able to rate this better.

Good but not great by MiMac

The cruse was a good value and fun. The best day was CoCo Cay. Food was a little bland. Ship was a little dated but fine. Would have been better if the pillows were better and the internet was free or low cost.

A nice short getaway by aliciar97

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

There was a lot I loved and some things that I would do different. I loved the food, which I hear is top notch on all Royal Caribbean cruises. The entertainment was something we truly enjoyed. The resort Island - Cocoa Cay was a great day to relax on the beach, however I wish there were more structured things that could be done - for example games (three legged race etc.) just to break up the day and not have to pay an arm and a leg to enjoy yourself. Not everywhere should require you to purchase an extra excursion in order to do something fun! I would not go back to the Bahamas as I felt like the Bahamians are pushy and the city itself is very dirty. There was not much to do there, so I was very thankful I had purchased the Atlantis resort ahead of time or else I probably would have just stayed on the cruise ship for the day. We went for a stroll that evening and you know it is bad when you have to be buzzed in by a security guard into the McDonald's. I am uncertain if this is characteristic of most ports when cruising or not as this was my first cruise, however this one was pretty bad! Overall I would do it again - and venture to other islands etc. I really loved the beaches and the ship itself. The kids club was very good to my son and this allowed my husband and I to spend time together alone as well!

It was an OK time. There was a lot of confusion and we got charged for a lot of things we did not buy. It was kind of frustrating to get the $838 taken off the credit card. Also the waiters kept mixing up the setsail cards.

Enchantment "Rocks and "rolls"!!! by Jamcat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Embarked on this cruise with modest expectations; found a most enjoyable experience! Beginning with a professional and involved cruise director, "John Blair", who gave life to every event, to staff members including Tim Myle, who gave excellent service, and who happened to be one of the best entertainers on the ship. ( sang with the Caribbean band )!!!

Overall a great trip on The Enchantment of the Seas - 4/13/13 by boogs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Let me start by saying that my husband and I have cruised 25 times with Carnival. It's been 6 years since we cruised on the Royal Carribbean Grandeur of the Seas out of Baltimore and decided that we were ready to try again. The 12 day itinerary helped with our decision. We cruised with my parents and booked connecting balcony rooms. If you are cruising with another couple or with kids, I definitely recommend the connecting rooms. We left the door open during the day, so we doubled our space it allowed us to spend more time together without going to a lounge. The decor of the ship was beautiful, the staff was friendly and the the layout of the ship dispersed people so there were never any crowds or lines. This is especially true about the lido deck restaurant. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, you could walk in, get your food and find a table with no lines and no waiting. The food choices were amazing and they worked hard to make everything ready and available to keep the flow of food and people moving. The Park Avenue Cafe was another food option. They served deli sandwiches, quesadillas, carving station and dessert. they also had a fresh salad bar. This venue was located in the solarium at the back of the ship. It was peaceful and quiet in the indoor solarium with full windows to allow you to feel like you were outside. Since the early dinner option was full, we chose "my time dining". We made reservations in advance and were able to have dinner at the same table every night with the same waiter. I enjoy getting to know our waiter and assistant waiting during our trips and find that the service is better if they know you. Dinner in the dining room was a great experience every night. Now I must also mention that I have two complaints that I need to share. First, one of the beds in our room was broken. It was the bed closest to the couch and has obviously been used to form an L-shaped seating area with the couch. If you sat on the side of the bed, you could easily slide off. Now imagine trying to sleep in that bed. If you were a back sleeper, and stayed alert, you might be able to stay in the bed, but any slight shift in weight would have you rolling out, with no way to hold on. After a few nights (and trading off with my husband) we realized that slipping a pillow under your left cheek evened out the slope and allowed for a more safe and restful sleep. We inquired about swapping the bed, but no other beds were available. My second complaint was that we had to leave our room between 10:00 am and 2:00pm to allow the crew to paint our balcony. We purchased a balcony so that we could enjoy the deck from our room. The smell was so bad and I wasn't sure when the paint was dry, so we did not have access to our balcony for the entire the day. My parents (in the adjoining room) told me that the painters left the balcony door open while they were painting, which explained why the room smelled like paint. This was a day at sea and, in my opinion, the best place to be on a day at sea is on your personal balcony. Not only could we not use our balcony, but we were unable to use our room. Overall we had a great trip. I know it's and old ship and it needs to be maintained, but when I pay to go on vacation, I expect to be able to rest comfortably in my bed and on my balcony. I should not be forced to sleep in a broken bed and be kicked out of my room for an entire day.

Our First Cruise by jgs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

This being our first cruise, we enjoyed the many various activities that were offered while on board. The movies offered were very good, the various entertainment shows were great. All in all there was plenty to do while on board. The beach at Labadee was a bit rough, due to the many pieces of coral in the water and on the beach. The taxi drivers at some of the ports were a bit "pushy" in offering rides around their island. The Captain and his crew did a great job with the schedule and timely arrival at the various ports. One very disappointing part of the cruise happened while attending the Park West Art Auction while on board. I had successfuly won a bid on a sports memorabilia article (a Pete Rose signed baseball) and when I went to claim the baseball, I was told that the baseball had another signature other than Pete Rose. At that time I asked the Auctioneer Julian Demici, If he could provide me with another baseball signed by Pete Rose. He stated if he did it would cost me 315.00. Keep in mind my winning bid was 105.00 !!! When i declined his offer, he told me he could no longer help me and handed me a phone number for customer service at Park West. I feel that this a scam on the part of Park West simllar to a "bait and switch" tactic. In calling customer service they gave me a runaround, apologized and said there was nothing they could do. On my return home, I have been made aware of the fact that a few years ago Park West had been involved in many lawsuits concerning bogus art paintings and overpricing. I also understand that Royal Caribbean chose not to renew their contract with Park West at that time. Perhaps Royal Caribbean should take another look at Park West ! Please feel free to contact me should there be any questions concerning the above. Thank You.

Would rather be stranded at sea on the fun ship any day by Carnival4life

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

As a previous Carnival only cruiser I kept hearing things like "oh, once you do Royal Caribbean you'll never want to go back". Well that's not the case. I'd rather be stranded at sea with friendly staff as opposed to on a vacation with most staff acting like they hate their jobs and don't wanna be there. I am in no way a picky person, most times when picking hotels I am good with 1 and 2 stars so it is unusual for me to be so dissatisfied. The staff was rude and seemed highly annoyed that I was asking to order a Starbucks coffee from the Starbucks stand on the ship, the room was dingy, the different rooms on the ship where not in fact private rooms (i.e. on carnival the night club was separate and looked and felt like a nightclub, the piano bar the same, etc) on this ship all the rooms where just open areas that people constantly walked thru. I didn't like that. I found the other travelers to be rude also, eating in the windjammer was like a battle as people did not stay in line, cut in front of you, about knocked you over and most acted as if they had never ate before. There were no trays which I just feel makes getting a plate, drink and silverware a much easier task. The lunch buffet closed at either 3 or 330 but starting at 230 they would begin roping off seating sections and food. I think that if you are OPEN until 330 then you are OPEN until 330 - full service. The company seemed highly unorganized. To get to our excursion on our stop in Nassau we had to go sit on deck 5 for 40 minutes and get a towel from deck 9 to leave on deck one. On carnival the boat docks you walk to deck one and they hand out towels in case you've forgotten one and you meet your tour outside. The private island was nice at coco cay and it was nice that they had us lunch but we were on the last tendered boat to get from the island back to the ship and we had to sit and wait like 40 minutes for the staff to load all the kitchen supplies and bar supplies in a very unorganized fashion to our tendered boat. (You'd think doing this week would provide some kind of organization ). Then once we reached the ship we all had to wait until everything was unloaded before we were able to get off. I understand that getting this stuff back on board is a necessary thing but I just feel that it should be unseen by the guests and if it must be seen then at least act like you know what the heck you are doing. The unorganization of getting us of the boat in Nassau lead us to be late for our tour and late coming back from our tour meaning that all the shops on the island were already closed (they close at 530). The best meal we had the whole time was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nassau island. The bar tenders seemed annoyed at the request of a beverage and you had to stand there and wait and wait for them to wait on you. I was highly irritated that even with prepaid gratuities every bar drink added a 15%tip. I am usually a great tipper but don't feel their service waranted anythin additional. I would definitely cruise again, but never with royal Caribbean.
