My Review of "Enchantment of the Seas" cruise by janmrwalter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Great get-a-way ... but too many kids the week we traveled.  Loved the relaxed atmosphere ... food was OK (Chops was excellent but I hate to pay extra for food when we've already paid for the cruise food); extra charge if you wanted lobster (never used to be that way); the staff of the ship mostly was pleasant and wanted to please or be of service (our cabin steward, servers at dinner).

The bathroom was VERY small, but otherwise the room was OK for what we paid.

We would do this cruise again if the price was right!!!

Jam Packed by astroh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Cannot believe that ONE cabin steward can handle so many cabins in such an efficient manner. He was FANTASTIC. The dining room service was equally great. Never seen such courtesy on any cruise line. FOOD. What can I say other than it was fabulous! The variety, the quality, the presentation, the fact that it arrived in front of you HOT, etc.,etc.. Even the variety in the Windjammer was outstanding.

So what were the cons? DO NOT GET CABINS 8545, 8547, 8045, 8047, 8039 or 8539. The first four listed have a bar storeroom directly above and they are working ALL night dropping heavy boxes and wheeling noisy carts on a tile floor. NO SLEEP! The other two are adjacent to the stairs and if there are teenagers on board, watch out as they love to jump down four or five stairs at a time! Ship was jam packed so there was nothing that could be done. Unfortunately, we did not realize and chose the week before school started so there were 666 kids (that is correct) on board with little to ZERO parental control. All things being considered the staff did a remarkable job. I still rate RCCL as the best cruise line having traveled on them 8 times with Holland America a close second. This was our 18th cruise and three more planned this year.

Good service; old and tired facilities. by happyVacation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The service was great.  The food is so so, especially at Windjammer's.  My Fair Lady's food is hit or miss.   The fish dishes tasted rubbery, and steak was either really tender and juicy or tough as rubber on another day.  The best place to grab a quick meal is really Park Cafe, especially their roast beef sandwich.  Most of the public area is showing its age but the crew does its best to maintain it well.  The pool is very small; it does not have those slides that RC commercials have on TV.  The port stops were at Coco Cay (private island that got really crowded with all cruise ship guests; pretty island though), Nassau (Atlantis was way over priced and not worth it in my opinion; the rides on any Six Flags or Wet and Wild are much better and varied), and Grand Bahamas (really wasn't that much to do; we went to Taino beach for a few hours, which was a tourist trap...) The shows were decently entertaining.  Overall, it was just OK...  If you get a good deal on the price, it's not a bad way to vacation.

Interesting cruise by cadiba75

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have been on several cruises with few cruise ships, and my experiences on Royal was the least memorable. For starters, there were no facilities for ironing or washing. .a bit unusual Secondly, the bathroom size was a bit surprising, especially since I was booked into a balcony. .shudder to imagine what other accommodations were like. Thirdly, their choice of beverage for customers who declined the soda package was bismal...it was as if we were being "penalized" for not subscribing...Watered down lemonade and some semblance of ice tea??????? I was very disappointed to say the least, especially since this was a family trip as my daughters are both headed off to College. I will continue to patronize Disney and Carnival. B The best part of my cruise were the lovely family we shared our dinners with as they were simply fantastic. Oh..the crew were incredible, given ear limited resources. .God bless.

Sixteith Anniversary Cruise Aug 4-8,2014 Enchantment oo the Seas by pc961sg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise met our expectations except on two issues.1)I never received the onboard credit of $75.00 that your representative(Amanda) said she credited to my account at the time I booked the cruise.

2)Our daughters added a surprise "Classic Romance Package" to the cruise to help us celebrate our 60 th Anniversary.A small card from Royal Caribbean was left in the room with best wishes from the kids.At no time were we apprised of what the C R Package consisted of.Only by calling family from the ship before it sailed did we learn of the contents of the package.Thereafter we had to search out the framed portrait item, and never received our Breakfast In Bed on our Anniversary date.We are Diamond Members of Royal Caribbean and have also complained to them in a after cruise survey.

Also, the ATM Machines stopped working soon after leaving port.I was told they were broke and needed maintenance. They mysteriously started working as we sailed back toward Port Canaveral.I have my suspect as to why!!

RC did not communicate and inform .

Enchantment of the Seas by sholeman

The experience was absolutely wonderful----our dinner staff, Mark, Max, and Luis, were perfect.  Activities on ship for teens, children and adults were great---would sail again with Royal Carribean

The ship was almost totally booked, but you never felt crowded or felt you were not given the proper amount of attention.  Love the evening with the flags

Great short trip by dn925william

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I liked the trip due to fact that it started on Monday and finished on Friday.  Food and service was great!  I've been on several cruise lines but will make my future cruise choices with Royal Caribbean.  I would not recommend the soft drink card though.. at $20/day was too pricy.  We elected to do our own site seeing on Nassau as we had been on the excursions before.

First Royal Caribbean Cruise by holly23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My sister and I cruised on the Enchantment of the Seas from August 1, 2014- August 4th, 2014. Overall, we had a very enjoyable time, and would not be opposed to cruising this line in the future, however, there were a few things about the trip that stood out as negative experiences for us.

I'll start off by saying that we are unashamedly spoiled by Disney Cruise Lines, so that was the standard by which our trip was judged against. With RCL, we found the main dining room entrees to be excellent, and we actually preferred them to the entrees aboard the Disney ships we had been on. However, the food in the Windjammer Cafe was not at all anything special, neither were the other food stations outside of the main dining room. Disney definitely has better buffet style food, appetizers, and desserts.

The room was satisfactory; kept clean and tidy. Again, comparing to Disney, you couldn't leave your room for 15 minutes without having come back and it finding it re-cleaned. on the Disney line we saw our room attendant constantly, and bonded quite well with them. On RCL, we saw our room attendant twice, and whereas he did a fine job, it was not quite up to the standard we expected.

The last point I'd like to mention was our most troubling. We never had this issue in the cabin, however, at least 80% of the time, when you used the bathroom on any deck outside of your cabin, the toilets would not flush. To me that is a huge health hazard and not quite something I'm ready to tolerate, especially on a cruise ship where disease and sickness can spread so rapidly. The staff member we alerted to the problem was very apologetic and obviously understood how big of an issue it was, but it continually happened throughout the cruise.

Also, (this is to no fault of the cruise line whatsoever) the weather was cloudy and rainy off and on the entire trip, and 40mph winds kept us from being able to dock at CocoCay, which gave us an unexpected day at sea. To their credit, the staff did everything they could to add more activities and games to participate in on board, however, nothing was particularly interesting, and there wasn't a great variety to the activities. And again, we're comparing this to a day at sea on a Disney ship with so many possibilities and varieties of activities that we wanted to do, we actually had to force ourselves to spend time just relaxing by the pool instead of doing all of the activities!

Overall, we did have a fantastic time. We really felt like this cruise line focused on the "relaxing with a pina colada" in your hand more than Disney, and at the end of summer it was just what we needed :)

it was a good short getaway by virgobls

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

It was a great sort getaway. It was not as good because we couldn't port at out second stop but all in all it was good. The crew was wonderful. The food was great although we didn't like the fact that we couldn't find food after one am. Other than room service which charges for bringing it to you.

I would recommend this trip on the Enchantment of the Seas.  The staff was AWESOME!  They were so attentive to our needs.  My husband and I were on our Anniversary and the dinner overlooking the water was superb.  They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy yourself.  Definitely would go again.

LOVE COCO CAY by swampya

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Boarding was the easiest ever and we have been on over 20 cruises. Cabin was clean and tidy. Food was very good except one night and my tummy was upset the next day but nothing serious. Coco Cay was spectacular for swimming and all kinds of fun. However, the lunch line was quite long as there were 2 ships on Coco Cay that day. We chose to just have salad and fruit to avoid the long line. Actually, it felt good to eat light anyway. All in all, it was fun, relaxing and excellent service om board the ship.

4 night enchantment of the seas by rodriguezfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a wonderful vacation. The staff was super nice, fun and hardworking.  I particularly enjoyed the cruise director, Mark.  He was hilarious. We enjoyed the shows also.  I had a chance to get a treatment at the spa which was on special the first day(well worth every penny).  It was so relaxing. Cocoa Cay was literally paradise.

Not as great as past RC Cruises by renebell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Drinks watered down, there was a charge for almost everything, not nearly the value it was in the past.  Very short staffed, you could tell everyone was exhausted.  Lunch time, trays were not refilled, very little desert.  Ice Cream bar was terrible not open often and than it tasted more like frozen water.  This was the most I have ever paid for a cruise and probably had the least value.  Would not recommend this cruise at all.  I almost always chose RC because of the service and the value of the cruise this was certainly a big big disappointment.

Great Cruise by FamilyWeekend

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a nice short cruise for a weekend getaway.  I was told gratuities were included in the cost of the cruise; however, I was charged $12/day for 3 days (5 people in our family).  We did not utilize the dining room on the first night; therefore, I feel that I should be given the option of how much to tip (again the amount was supposedly included in the cost).  The beverage cards are a huge plus.  Issue with this is that it is not "unlimited" as stated when purchased. Drinks from the fountain machine is every 15 minutes. If you have to wait 15 minutes before getting a refill, this is not considered "unlimited".  Staff onboard were exceptional!  All friendly and attentive.  Lots of entertainment (karaoke, games, dancing, bands, etc).  Cococay was very nice and the fact that the beverage card worked there as well was a huge plus!  Will definitely sail with Royal Caribbean again.

Not my best cruise experience by clarkevvv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I chose Royal Caribbean because I was traveling with my 84-yr.-old Mom on this cruise and thought it would be a better experience.  We had a backed up drain in our bathroom which stunk.  We weren't able to get a proper shower for 2 days while they were back & forth trying to fix it.  They said they were full and didn't have another cabin to move us to.  So that was annoying.  Anyway, our room steward, Sebastian Pereira worked really hard to clean & sanitize & make the bathroom usable.  The Windjammer restaurant and the dining room staff were outstanding.  The food was good. The guest services staff were very patient (I was not a happy camper). The entertainment, including dancers, singers and comedians were excellent.  Aside from bathroom issues, it was good experience.
