This was our first cruise and I'm afraid we are hooked now. We loved the ship since it never felt crowded and it wasn't too big. Food was good and service was great. We would definitely sail on the Enchantment again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was easy. We got to the port at about 10:45, gave the porter our bags, got through the very short line at security very quickly. There was no line for check-in and that was easy as well. However, the guy helping us was not very helpful with some (what I thought) simple questions. We were told to wait in the waiting area but were told we could board as soon as we got to that area. We explored the ship and had lunch at Chops. What a start!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I had heard the food could be hit or miss so my expectations were low. Our embarkation lunch at Chops was lovely. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had all our dinners at the Main dining room. The food was mostly delicious with a few missteps. Our cruise was over Thanksgiving and this was sadly the worst meal we had. It wasn't horrible, just not great. I went to the buffet twice and found some things that were good. My son enjoyed the Park Cafe late at night and went whenever they were open for their made to order salads.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I wasn't sure what to expect. This cruise had no sea days but we made 1 and a half on our own. The pool area was never crowded and the activities I did attend were well organized and entertaining.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The entertainers were fantastic but the shows suffer from being old fashioned. Not in a classic way but in the "we're stuck in the 90s" way. The musical shows could use some updating. The comic was ok. The juggling comedy act was actually hilarious.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
I took my 13 year old son and he really enjoyed the teen center. He also enjoyed being able to have a little freedom from me. He had a great time at most of the activities and would come back to the room before the 1 am curfew. It was almost like I was there solo.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Every crew member we encountered were wonderful. Our room was always kept clean. Our attendant came sometimes 3 or 4 times a day to replace towels and make sure the room was in tip top shape. What a hard worker! Our dining room waiters were equally wonderful. They learned quickly our likes and dislikes and were always there when we needed something. Bar staff was friendly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I thought Enchantment was beautiful. The only time that I noticed that she was lacking from a little maintenance was when we were docked next to a Disney ship. There were a few blemishes on the outside but she's in dry dock right now for a repaint. I never felt like there were a lot of people on board. It never felt crowded which was lovely.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
I expected the inside cabin to be an airless, light-less cave. It was anything but. It was really just a place to shower and sleep so I didn't mind that I couldn't see out. If I wanted a view, I could go one deck up and outside. We were very close. The bathroom was adequate and I didn't have any problems with the infamous shower curtain. I did get the bottom of it wet so that it stuck to the lip of the shower. That kept it firmly in place and not attached to my leg.
Ship tip
During our cruise we found that the Starbucks in Cafe Lattetudes was included in the Refreshment and Deluxe packages. I wish I would have known this on day one but my son found out when I authorized him to get one drink. We were there a lot when we figured it out. Be sure to check if it's included in your package.
We didn't spend a lot of time touring the city. We did arrive a day early and stayed the night in a hotel near the airport. After the cruise, we had an overnight before our flight home.
I didn't find the port and tour sellers to be as annoying as people made it out to be. Yes, they're talking to you and I found if you showed any interest at all, they would be a little more persistent. But I just ignored them and they went on to the next person. We walked to the Pirate Museum which was short but interesting and visited the Dunkin Donuts to use the WIFI. We shopped a little and were back on the ship by lunch. We enjoyed our semi "sea day."
I really enjoyed this port. My son did the teen snorkel excursion and had a good time. He spent the rest of the day looking at the sand sharks that were hanging out by the floating bar and swimming in the area. I ended up on the beach between the adventure park and the floating bar and had very little people around me. I did rent an umbrella for a little shade but next time I'll just find a chair next to a tree. They had bars located here along with a hot dog cart at lunch time. We were happy with that and never visited the big lunch they offer.
It was a little late but it was just as easy as embarkation. It was a little confusing but it was our first time so that might be the reason. Not the crew.
Wait until you try different ships. Oasis class, Anthem class and Freedom class. All have different experiences and deliver and great vacation (Freedom is our favorite so far). Happy cruising!
