Review summary

Visiting the ports was great but quickly got board on the boat if we spent too much time at sea. Disappointed with our hot and loud room. Also found the entertainment to be sub par. Unless you are prepared to only eat and drink on the boat ... its boring quickly.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
First time on a cruise and I was pleasantly surprised how quick and organized the embarkation process was.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet was OK (to be expected). I did think the dining room food was better than I was expecting. The Share restaurant food was out of this world amazing.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
All of the physical activity centers were overloaded with people.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Found the entertainers to be sub-par. Was expecting higher end entertainers.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

Not a good experience. The room was very warm and although we turned the thermostat all the way day, it never cooled off. Additionally there was a lot of banging noise coming from behind our room .

Ports of call

The Adventure carts was a complete blast!!!

Juneau, Alaska

Beautiful and really enjoyed the seaplane ride to the lodge.

Skagway, Alaska

Loved the helicopter tour to the glacier.

Victoria, British Columbia

1 out of 5
We selected the double decker bus tour of Victoria. First, the marketing team should reward the tour, although it is technically a 2 level bus tour, it was not the stereotypical London red double decker bus most of us were expecting. But most disappointing was the tour itself. Spent 45+ minutes driving around neighborhoods getting a real estate value lesson. Didn't spend enough time on the city itself. Waste of time and money. Very disappointed.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very smooth quick and organized.

Sea days are my favorite! But everyone has different tastes.

the more you Cruise the more you will enjoy and cherish the sea days in many cases especially on a repeat Cruise you will even be reluctant to get off the ship.

I'm not sure if you are an experienced cruiser, but most who are, enjoy the sea days (my wife and I love them). We have found that there is always something to do, often too much to get it all in. They are relaxing to us. We are looking forward to our next Emerald cruise in Nov.

Sorry. My time on the Emerald went by too fast. Seems that way on every cruise I have taken. But I am not you. I guess if you do not enjoy some of the activities offered, you could be bored easily.
