dcl southern caribbean cryise by chimaera

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Here at cruise and ports. But the embarkation and disembarkation was very disorganized. Took almost 2 hours to board and also leave. Cruise goes very fast with 5 stops but nice stops. Used St Kitts day as a rest day since it was short. Great food on the cruise also.

Plan On Puerto Rican Time by mp3smo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First off, it took us about around 2 hours to both board & leave the cruise from the San Juan port due to Puerto Rican customs not knowing any English & not have enough staff there. It was a mess! I suggest you do not plan a flight or rental very close to the departure & arrival time of the cruise, or you will miss it!

Besides the cluster that happened at the San Juan port, the rest of the cruise was okay. There is only one day just at sea, which is the next (second) day. There are a total of 5 destinations all in a row after that, so if you do not have the energy, or just want to relax & not wake up early to go to excursions, this cruise is not for you. We were already exhausted after the second or third day.

The destinations have very poor demographics, so everywhere you go, you will run into homeless people & pushy taxi drivers that trick you into one of their deals so they can get business. If you like or know how to haggle, you might get some good deals on island exclusives. I recommend the drive-thru volcano excursion in St. Lucia & the submarine excursion in Grenada, if you do decide on them.

The entertainment & staff on the cruise itself was very good, which is what you would expect from a Disney cruise. It was smooth sailing & no problems aboard the Disney Magic. The second night at sea is the formal night, so be prepared to dress up for it. I suggest if you go to an adult show at Fathoms after dinner, go early so you can find a seat. Expect the high quality & service that you get from Disney, as they almost never fail to deliver. The last night of the cruise, the ship speeds back to San Juan from the last destination, so be prepared for a bumpy ride back.

I highly recommend Disney cruises, but I do not recommend coming to this port to take ANY cruises due to the problems at the port.

5 stars for Disney not for <img class='agent-replacement' src='/images/hideagent.png'> by najjarht

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was my 1st cruse ever, and i'd like to repeat again with them, simply Disney Cruise Line make my vacation Magical. Every thing in the cruse is fantastic (food, activity, entertainments, dining, service). The only thing interrupted my vacation is the arrangement and the bad service and information i get from . (I booked stateroom for two separate beds while its not even available in the cruse) and when i contact them they never help or support or even apologize for this big mistake.

Truely a fun experience for the entire family. by BobbieS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our family of ten people traveling together spanned 3 generations.  We ranged from 3 years old to 68 years old.  There was something to do all the time for each of us.  The accommodations were very comfortable- we had booked 2 inside cabins and one cabin with a balcony all close to each other.    The children loved visiting between rooms.

This cruise was the second leg of our Land and Sea Package so we had just visited all the Disney World Parks for the preceeding 3 days.  We appreciated the more relaxed pace of the cruise after the busy days at the Parks.  The children loved the clubs and labs and didn't want to leave.  The pools, movies, parties and characters kept them very busy.  We enjoyed the movie theater.

The rotation system through the 3 various dining rooms with our waitstaff following through with us, was delightful.  We were impressed at the special attention for one of our party that has a gluten allergy- staff was very helpful.  We actually enjoyed the ship and its activities so much, we didn't even disembark in first port so we could stay aboard and take advantage of the offerings on-board.

The Pirate Party was a big hit.  We danced and enjoyed it all until the children were so tired, they were falling asleep standing up!  What a great time we all enjoyed.

The Fantasy is better by ScarlettsMom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently went on the 5 night cruise out of Miami on the Disney Magic. We had previously cruised on the Fantasy, and while the Magic is a beautiful ship, I just enjoyed the larger Fantasy much better. The pool on the Magic is tiny and the reception areas are small. The Fantasy just had many more special touches like the scavenger hunts and the pictures that become animated. One thing that was very good on the Magic was the food. It was really excellent. The ports were nice - we went to Grand Cayman and swam with the sting rays which was quite an experience. We also wentto Tulum which in mid-Nov was over 95 degrees. They advertise it as having a beach that you can also visit, but that is for the very fit only as there are steep stairs down from the cliff. The beach was also very crowded and the water looked murky. Despite the terrible heat, it was not very appealing. Tulum is very interesting but the heat made it almost unbearable. Next time we will stay in cozemel or take the ferry to playa de carman.

Cruise was cancelled 3 days before sailing!!!!! by animaldoc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I cannot convey the deep disappointment our family experienced when this cruise was cancelled just 3 days before it was supposed to set sail.  It didn't matter to us that Disney refunded our money and offered a free cruise (if taken within a certian time frame).  We already had the time scheduled off from work, and planned to take our daughter out of school on a week where she would miss very little school days.  We would have been much more happier paying for the cruise we planned and going at the time we were scheduled for.

Both my husband and I have jobs that make it very difficult to take time off without a lot of notice and it's not easy to just "go to work" when we already cleared our schedules for the week.  That ended up translating to a week of work making virtually no money (because of the type of work we both do, we work by appointments, and we are usually booked out weeks in advance).

Best one ever by disneyfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Wonderful family vacation. Weather was great, ports were fun, educational. This was our fourth cruise on the Magic and unfortunately the Disney Magic is looking tired. I understand they are going into dry dock in September so hopefully the Magic will return to previous status. We booked two additional cruises for 2014 before we left the ship. Wish they had more west coast cruises.

awesome by monicasams

Staff, food, entertainment were fabulous...cabin was dated, but very clean.loved the animal towels..loved the room service. .the overall trip was well worth the money. I do not suggest you take little ones under age 5 because I don't feel they are able to grasp or enjoy alll the activities that were available.....being a mother of twin two year olds and hearing from a liot of other mothers with toddler on the tri p they agree that under 5 is just too young....we are definitely going to book then trip again when the girls are older

Awesome family vacation!! by Kim2376

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was ideal for our family. We have 3 boys ages 7,5,3 and they all said this was their favorite vacation ever! We cruised last year on a non Disney ship and had a great time as well, but overall Disney was much more accommodating for young children. I found the food, cabins, child are to all be excellent!

The size was good, the restaurants rotation was not good because we had 3 nights in the Parrat Cay which was too noisy. The food was not good.

Amazing Cruise!! by SDelich

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Magic / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the time we set foot on the Disney Magic to the time we left we were taken care of by every member of the Magic. They were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Every port of call was a gorgeous location where the staff at the ports was just as wonderful as the members on board.

Not just for kids! by ValorieB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

We were 3 single women, on a Disney cruise and had a marvelous time! I love the decor of the ship, as I have always liked Art Deco as a style and period. Disney is all about the details and it comes through in all the extra little touches around the ship
