Review summary

Great cruise! We will definitely be going back to Alaska and cruising again. Money well spent.

Embarkation

Excellent! Embarkation is so easy now. I hated the muster process, and now, you just get on the ship, go to your room, watch the video, and then check in at your muster station. Easy peasy!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Did not attend meals in the main dining room. Buffet was good. Always plenty of choices. I liked the choices for charcuterie on every meal. They always had specialty meats and cheese and freshly baked bread choices. There were plenty of "heavier" meal choices as well. Desserts were good and plentiful. I especially recommend the chocolate cake from room service and the oatmeal cookies from the buffet! The desserts/sweets at the International Cafe (Open 24 hours) were all top notch! The Salty Dog was great! For $18 you get to pick two mains and you get a dessert. We loved their burger which was a mixture of short rib and rib eye with a fried jalapeno and a nice piece of thick bacon (they called it pork belly). We also tried the Crown Grill and had rib eyes, which were excellent, creamed spinach, and potatoes. Excellent steakhouse.

Onboard Activities

We played a lot of trivia, went to informative talks about Alaska. All of them were fun and interesting.

Entertainment

The one show that we went to and really enjoyed was Rock Opera. Great singers and dancers. Good show.

Service and Staff

Beautifully clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

We were in a mini-suite, M205. It was a beautiful room. Balcony was normal sized, enough for a couple of chairs and a table. The room had a bed, large desk, and full-sized sofa. The bathroom had a full tub in it and was very roomy.

Ship tip

Bring a reusable cup with a lid/straw and fill it in the buffet. Oh! And if you are in your cabin and want to listen to the announcements from the bridge, it's on your TV. Go to LIVE TV, find the bridge cam, and turn the volume up. This is super handy for when you are cruising through Endicott Arm and going to see the glacier since the resident Alaska expert is giving your pointers on what you are seeing, history of the area, and little stories about Alaska.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

No excursion. Pike's Place and the Space Needle are fun to visit. I would definitely recommend the Museum of Pop Culture. MoPOP is in the same area as the Space Needle and the Chihuly Gardens. It's a really nice place to visit. You could spend a day here. It took us about 3.5 hours to do the museum. Very interesting.

Ketchikan, Alaska

It was jewelry stores and gift shops.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

Best part of the cruise. If they offered a trip that was ONLY scenic cruising like this, I would sign up immediately. Keep the ports...I don't need jewelry or another magnet or t-shirt.

Juneau, Alaska

Jewelry and gift shops. The fudge shop is overrated and expensive. I gave this four stars for Tracy's King Crab Shack. Excellent! Pricey, but excellent food. Two king crab legs and a crab cake sandwich was over $100. Both were excellent.

Skagway, Alaska

More jewelry and gift shops.

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

We were only in port for about 4 hours and I didn't want to shop anymore.

Disembarkation
