Family Vacation by dstephens1947

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a very good time and thought the overall experience was something that we would like to do again! We particularly liked the Tracy Arm Fjords and the harbor cruise in Seattle as well as the train ride in Skagway. In fact the whole trip was something new to all of us, an experience we will always remember and one we would do again (when we can afford it). My wife and I did this one to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, and we picked a good one for us!

50th Anniversary Cruise by lsmith3425

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We enjoyed the cruise with our grown children very much.  The ship was very nice and clean, food was good. We ate at the buffet most of the time.  The staff was excellent!  Everyone was very friendly and helpful.  We expected the weather to be cool and rainy and prepared for it.  Overall a wonderful trip!

Bucket List - Alaskan Cruise by simicdn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Took 7 day Alaskan Cruise departing from Seattle. Went with another couple - both celebrating anniversaries, nice to get recognition from the cruise line ( balloon decoration, welcome sign on our cabin door, and special chocolate dessert). Rough seas on the first day made it rough for some people but we were good. Enjoyed the catamaran/van excursion at the tiny town of Haines. Our guide was very personable. We did see bears eating salmon at the river head, even though far away. We set up our own personalized van tour with Ketchikan TourCab which turned out great. Loved the good food onboard, of course, ate too much!

Poor room accommodation by kaymickley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime!  Our request for a suite with a balcony was fulfilled but there was no mention that there was an obstructed view from our balcony.  Our plan to enjoy many moments on our balcony watching all of the beautiful scenery pass by was not possible because of the only way to view was standing up because the balcony was a wall that you had to stand up to see over. The bedroom had a window that faced out on the bow of the ship and other passengers on the bow could see directly into our room. I brought this to the attention of the pursers desk and was told that there were no other room to give us.  We planned this cruise well in advance with much anticipation but our dissatisfaction with our room was of no concern to any of the personnel of the ship.  We will never recommend Princesss Cruise lines to anyone!!!  Alaska is beautiful but the trip was very marred by our very poor suite accomodations!!

worst food ever, 7 time cruiser by rkumpff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Buffett was horrible, ***no room service after 10:30 PM***. unless you want a day old, cold sandwich. Average dinners in the dining room. Baked Alaska was a premade neopolitan ice cream.

For the Memories by lislaya

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall, a majority of our group (seventeen persons) felt delighted with their cruise experience, most their first time. The shore excursions were so much exciting they will be remembered uniquely special. Not to be outdone was their collective sincere praises to the staffs that served them during meals and at the staterooms.

weatherbeaten by Jeep

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Bad weather spoiled our experiece, couldn't even stop in Skagway because of wind.  Tracy Arm was not nearly the experience of Glacier Bay, bad choice on our part to take that cruise.  Ship is nice and service aboard was good.

Unforgettable by kmisiak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Our cruise started with 1st class flights on American Airlines-totally unexpected! We experienced great food, service, ambiance & entertainment. We especially enjoyed our balcony which we opened up to share with the other couple we travelled with. The scenery was majestic! Having the Naturalist onboard kept you informed about whale sitings and special points of interest. We also enjoyed his lectures. Our whale watching excursion was unusual because we were able to experience "bubble netting", -rarely seen. We had to skip Skagway due to gale force warnings but the captain took us to see more whales. The bear county sxcursion in Kachikan was great-saw a bear catching salmon & 1 in a tree. I thought we might see more but still thrilling. The Tracey Arm Fyord was magnificent! There had been an earthquake a few days before we got there, so there were many blue icebergs floating around. Seeing the glaciers actually moving and breaking off in to the sea was so exciting. The whole trip made you feel "small". This was the best cruise we ever took!

Awesome God's Country by gusbuck

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Alaska is truly a masterpiece of God! As we witnessed the beauty and grandeur from sunrise to sunset, we saw eagles in flight, whales having dinner, baby bears having lunch and the mountain goats munching on the hill side of the mountains.  And all the while we were seeing the glaciers in all their splendor!

The staff and crew of the Crown Princess could not have been any better. Marlon and Patricia in the dining room were exceptional, friendly and remembered not only our names, but what we wanted to eat and drink! (They would have our vote for THE BEST of the cruise.) We were in Balcony A514; our room steward was also exceptional in his service, in additional to being patient when we didn't vacate our room early. We were very pleased with the room service...they were right on time and when I ordered the wrong thing, they brought me the correct item almost immediately! We will probably book another cruise on the Crown Princess.

Cruise to Alaska by stanleyegoodman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This cruise was an important event for my family, which consisted of 6 people, and 4 cabins. It allowed all of us to spend casual time with each other, and provided plenty of adventurous shore time for the young adults. The amenities offered by the Crown Princess were fantastic; however, it caused remorse, because we were unable to convenience our server, MILIA, or the cabin attendee, ROSE to come back with us. They were excellent as were the rest of the ship;s personal. The food and its preparation were outstanding.

Great Cruise by bican

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Everything was great. only one disappointment was not getting into Skagway.  Bad weather couldn't be helped. Naturalist was wonderful. He kept us informed on the whole trip.  He was great speaker and knew a lot about the area, sea life and animals.

First Cruise by semmens1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I enjoyed the cruise.  The only thing my husband and I were so disappointed in was that we didn't see very much wild life.  We would of liked to spend more time in Ketchiken.

Aug 1, 2015 Alaska Cruise - Crown Princess by MFenske

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our 5th Alaska cruise and the 2nd with Princess. We enjoyed the entire cruise and had a seamless experience using airfare and transfers booked through Princess. Our only disappointment was the shortened time in Ketchikan and Victoria, BC. Our balcony cabin was perfect and was kept neat as a pin by our room steward. The weather was perfect, averaging in the low 70's. Most evenings a light jacket was all that was needed, even out on the balcony. It had been 9 years since our last cruise and we were surprised at the more casual dress on the two formal nights. Yes, there were those "diehard" guests in tux and formals, but the majority leaned towards suit and tie for the men and business attire for the ladies, either pantsuits or street length dresses. All in all we were happy with everything and returned home relaxed and refreshed.

Beautiful Weather by japwelch751

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The cabin, the ship itself, and the crew were all excellent except for one waiter at breakfast on one day who appeared to be still learning. We had to ask for juice, bread, and coffee refills. I had the impression he and his team were overwhelmed.

In contrast the server we had with our assigned dinner seating was outstanding. She and her team mate did an excellent job at every meal. We only had one meal in the food court and it was just OK.

The weather gods smiled on us. Juneau, Skagway, and Tracy Arm Fjord , were sunny and bright. Ketchikan was cloudy but mild.

I do believe Princess is making a mistake in selling tours of Butchart (sp) Gardens during the Victoria port stop because of the short stay and late arrival time in Victoria. We have been to Victoria and the gardens before and it is an injustice to the visitors to only allow a few hours of daylight to visit the gardens. Shame on Princess for doing this.

Great sights, ship so-so by danarose0513

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Everyone must visit Alaska atleast once in their lifetime! The views, cities, sights, mountains, and glaciers are all breathtaking. Being a young couple, we were prepared for the stereotypes heard of 'a lot of older people go on cruises' The week we went we got pretty unlucky with rain, a lot of fog, and lots of wind pretty much the entire cruise except for the last day- which we were told was unusual in most of the ports. The ship itself was beautiful, the embarkation process was seamless, our rooms were ready right away by the time we got on around 130pm. The majority of activities listed daily seemed to be geared more for the older generations. We went to one comedy/magic show which made us laugh a couple times but wasn't exactly 'impressive'. Out of the two productions that were put on we went to one and it was so-so, it felt more just like something to pass the time. Many of the activities were trying to sell you something. many of the musicians playing throughout the ship were very talented. We enjoyed our time drinking coffee, watching movies on the movie channel and snuggled under blankets keeping warm in our room and watching out our 'partially obstructed window' which was barely obstructed' The breakfast buffet was always the same stuff, lunch buffet was never good, we usually ended up eating pizza and salad or the grill outside. We had anytime dining because it was more flexible with our excursion schedules. We were always seated within 5 minutes but again, dinner in the main dining room was never impressive. We even paid an extra $20 for the 'crab shack' where reservations had to be made and the pictures advertised well presented bowls of king crab legs, shrimp and buttery corn on the cob with plentiful appetizers and desserts but we got a bowl of crab legs and unclean shrimp with soggy corn in a bowl of oily seasoned juices, and the dessert was a choice of the same desserts that the put out in the buffet just a bigger piece. Several times a day they offered a 'movie under the stars' outside on the top deck that was uncovered and usually at night but it was always so cold and rainy that it wasn't realistic to sit out there on pool loungers in the middle of the ocean freezing cold all bundled up in our warmest coats to watch a movie. towards the end of the cruise they finally started passing out blankets but it was just too cold to see as something fun and relaxing to do. Our room steward, Sorerto was AMAZING. He would come twice a day, once in the afternoon and while we were at dinner to straighten our room and turn down our sheets, always leaving us fresh towels and chocolates on our pillows. The excursions and sights right outside our boat was breathtaking enough to go through it all again. Even though the activities and ship food wasn't amazing, I would definitely take this trip again.  It wasn't unbearable it just wasn't impressive.

The cruse was great but not enough time at ports and the day excursion in Ketechan was Not enough time to see what we wanted to see.  It was pouring and our tour guide rushed us through it.

Good Cruise, Disappointing Ship by rlbrown13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The itinerary receives mixed reviews - Skagway and Tracy Arm Fjord were PHENOMENAL - Ketchikan was wonderful - even in the rain.  Juneau was a little disappointing, and I'd have been happier not to even stop for a rainy evening in Victoria.  The ship staff was great - very friendly.  However, the ship vibrated more than I think it should, and it seemed to lack adequate seating space in the buffet dining area.  Crown Princess is only 9 years old, but seemed to be older than many Celebrity ships I've sailed on that were physically older.

7 Night Alaska Cruise by piko97071

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Very enjoyable - need more entertaining shows. I simply don't have the time to  create a long dissertation of the cruise.  I was pleased with everything except I expected more entertainment and shows in the Princess Theater.
