Review summary

Everyone must visit Alaska atleast once in their lifetime! The views, cities, sights, mountains, and glaciers are all breathtaking. Being a young couple, we were prepared for the stereotypes heard of 'a lot of older people go on cruises' The week we went we got pretty unlucky with rain, a lot of fog, and lots of wind pretty much the entire cruise except for the last day- which we were told was unusual in most of the ports. The ship itself was beautiful, the embarkation process was seamless, our rooms were ready right away by the time we got on around 130pm. The majority of activities listed daily seemed to be geared more for the older generations. We went to one comedy/magic show which made us laugh a couple times but wasn't exactly 'impressive'. Out of the two productions that were put on we went to one and it was so-so, it felt more just like something to pass the time. Many of the activities were trying to sell you something. many of the musicians playing throughout the ship were very talented. We enjoyed our time drinking coffee, watching movies on the movie channel and snuggled under blankets keeping warm in our room and watching out our 'partially obstructed window' which was barely obstructed' The breakfast buffet was always the same stuff, lunch buffet was never good, we usually ended up eating pizza and salad or the grill outside. We had anytime dining because it was more flexible with our excursion schedules. We were always seated within 5 minutes but again, dinner in the main dining room was never impressive. We even paid an extra $20 for the 'crab shack' where reservations had to be made and the pictures advertised well presented bowls of king crab legs, shrimp and buttery corn on the cob with plentiful appetizers and desserts but we got a bowl of crab legs and unclean shrimp with soggy corn in a bowl of oily seasoned juices, and the dessert was a choice of the same desserts that the put out in the buffet just a bigger piece. Several times a day they offered a 'movie under the stars' outside on the top deck that was uncovered and usually at night but it was always so cold and rainy that it wasn't realistic to sit out there on pool loungers in the middle of the ocean freezing cold all bundled up in our warmest coats to watch a movie. towards the end of the cruise they finally started passing out blankets but it was just too cold to see as something fun and relaxing to do. Our room steward, Sorerto was AMAZING. He would come twice a day, once in the afternoon and while we were at dinner to straighten our room and turn down our sheets, always leaving us fresh towels and chocolates on our pillows. The excursions and sights right outside our boat was breathtaking enough to go through it all again. Even though the activities and ship food wasn't amazing, I would definitely take this trip again.  It wasn't unbearable it just wasn't impressive.

We had a 'partially obstructed view' it was a couple metal rods and off to the side was one of the lifeboats. but we had a clear view of the ocean and mountains. The mattress was extremely hard but the overall size of the room was acceptable

Take a trip to mendenhall glacier! We did the whale watching and glacier photo safari and it was great but raining hard the entire time so it was difficult to use my dslr camera for fear of getting it too wet

Skagway, Alaska

We took the Wilderness Safari up to davidson glacier thru haines alaska in the morning (the glacier is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen) and in the afternoon we took the Whitepass Scene Rail (which everyone must do because the sights are incredible)

Mdmartino...you said you were hopeful that your trip would be worth the money. Be assured that if you sit on a balcony or an open deck and look at the scenery of Alaska it WILL be worth much more than you will pay. Except Montana, Alaska was the most beautiful place I have been...and I personally have traveled all over. This is to include Europe..we have them beat too.

We were aboard the Crown on the 25th of July. It was rainy here and there in Juneau and Ketchikan, but we loved the food, service and ship. We never ate in the buffet, heard it was only average. We had breakfast every morning in the DaVinci dining room and food and service were great. Loved the Crown Grill, Michelangelo's and the Int'l Cafe. Look for Mina in the cafe. She's the best
