Review summary

This was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime!  Our request for a suite with a balcony was fulfilled but there was no mention that there was an obstructed view from our balcony.  Our plan to enjoy many moments on our balcony watching all of the beautiful scenery pass by was not possible because of the only way to view was standing up because the balcony was a wall that you had to stand up to see over. The bedroom had a window that faced out on the bow of the ship and other passengers on the bow could see directly into our room. I brought this to the attention of the pursers desk and was told that there were no other room to give us.  We planned this cruise well in advance with much anticipation but our dissatisfaction with our room was of no concern to any of the personnel of the ship.  We will never recommend Princesss Cruise lines to anyone!!!  Alaska is beautiful but the trip was very marred by our very poor suite accomodations!!

In my opinion no suite with a balcony should have an obstructed view!! We paid extra for a suite and balcony!

Ship tip

Do not assign any room with a balcony that does not have a full view from being able to sit in chairs and view the beautiful scenery

When deciding on a stateroom, I spend quite a bit of time looking at deck plans and finding reviews on specific rooms. It helps when making decisions. We had 14 days b2b last year on Regal with an obstructed balcony but still totally enjoyed it. Hope you will cruise again and really have a wonderful trip.

On most Princess ships the only balconies that have full sun are the mini suites on Dolphin deck and Caribe deck has large decks that have half sun and half covered. We used to always book mini suites, but like the larger decks on Carine better.

shame as most people sit on deck and enjoy there cruise. I don't know many people who spend time in their cabins. I Love watching a sunset out the back with a wine.

use a travel agent and specify exactly what you want. a good travel agent knows the ship layouts and can get you the best price possible

sorry to hear when I make reservations they always say obstructive view for balcony. we had one once but it was an upgrade for a bad inside cabin so I hear what your saying. we all learn next you will have a non obstructive one and it will be wonderful.

Agree - all should be divulged. We actually like interior - I like it nice and dark at night

Not all the deck plans show you things eg I picked R522 and thought it would be great sun on the balcony etc, but one photo of the ship told me something important that princess don't, it is fully obstructed above as the horizon court etc hangs over the top the balcony there fore making it dark like a horse stable, you cannot see it on the deck plan it should state has no sun .

Princess web site shows deck plans and states if the room has an obstructed view.

I think researching an upcoming cruise is a big part of the fun .

I did full research and picked my room. Very happy with Crown Princess top to bottom

agreed with all statements above. it was a mission of mine to research my haven suite on Norwegian. I even found a forum with picks someone had posted who stayed in the exact cabin. not dropping $4000.00 for a random unreserved room. live and learn my dear friend.

I've been a FIEND and POURING over my ship & its deck plans so I know what my cabin looks like. I even had the foresight to google "BEST AND WORST CABINS" for my trip...do your research!!! Or else don't complain about what you get.
