Review summary

This was our 5th Alaska cruise and the 2nd with Princess. We enjoyed the entire cruise and had a seamless experience using airfare and transfers booked through Princess. Our only disappointment was the shortened time in Ketchikan and Victoria, BC. Our balcony cabin was perfect and was kept neat as a pin by our room steward. The weather was perfect, averaging in the low 70's. Most evenings a light jacket was all that was needed, even out on the balcony. It had been 9 years since our last cruise and we were surprised at the more casual dress on the two formal nights. Yes, there were those "diehard" guests in tux and formals, but the majority leaned towards suit and tie for the men and business attire for the ladies, either pantsuits or street length dresses. All in all we were happy with everything and returned home relaxed and refreshed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Horizon Court Buffet was crowded most of the time so we avoided this choice. Regular restaurants and specialty restaurants were spectacular. The specialty restaurants were well worth the $25 pp. cover charge.

Ship Quality

The whole ship was spotless.

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean and well appointed. Over the top closet space. Plenty of room to move around for two people. Our steward, Lion, was very respectful of our schedule and extremely accommodating.

Ship tip

Pay for the Thermal Spa. $199 for a couple and the highlight of our cruise.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Our first time in Seattle. Called 2 months prior to reserve Sunday Brunch at the Space Needle. Food was outstanding. Pike Place Market was over-crowded and too big to see in a few short hours.

Juneau, Alaska

We made a major jewelry purchase at Diamonds International. Total VIP service.

Skagway, Alaska

Loved Liarsville and the bus ride up the pass. We also enjoyed visiting the salmon hatchery. Salmon Bake was over priced and a "bust" for us.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

Breathtaking!

Ketchikan, Alaska

Too short a time in port. The Lumberjack Show we had seen on a previous trip and is a lot of fun.

Victoria, British Columbia

Too short a time in port. Had a great dinner in Chinatown.
