Review summary

the scenery was beautiful and my cabin was nice except for the mattress issue - I have a back problem and could not sleep on those beds; hidden charges for restaurants was a negative; then finally I caught COVID on the cruise - got sick the last day and travel home was miserable; I tested positive at the ER when I got home

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
cabin was nice but my bed was way too soft - I had asked in advance for a firm mattress and had to sleep on a piece of plywood

Ship tip

watch out for hidden costs like restaurants - they look you in the eye and say no charge then charge you when you eat there

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

Seems like a lot of people (my wife and I included) coming back from a Alaska cruise with COVID. As for restaurant charges I'm not sure how it's possible to eat at a specialty dining restaurant on a Princess ship and not know there is an upcharge.

Hope you feel better soon. Yes Princess beds are soft. Most people love them but if you have a certain kind of back problem, you need a firm mattress. Not sure how you can request or they can provide a firm one.

The cruise lines are very up front about charges, you need to do your research

Your travel agent should have explained the charges also they are listed in all cruise ship Info. Hope you feel better.

Thanks for your feedback. COVID is everywhere unfortunately

Thanks for the review. Hopefully you enjoyed Alaska although you didn’t give any details on the ports. Covid is on almost every ship now, with many reporting they tested positive after returning
