Best cruise so far! by a3stephani

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was my 6th cruise and it was fantastic! This ship was always very clean, the food was very good and the entertainment at night was amazing. During a cruise I did in 2014 with Costa, the animation team only spoke Italian. They have changed this and now they say everything important in several languages (including English, Spanish and German) so non-Italians can also understand. Helsinki and Klaipeda were the only two ports that were a little disappointing. However, all the other cities were beautiful. Especially Stockholm, St. Petersburg and Riga were very nice cities. It was a shame that the ship left Stockholm quite early and in Klaipeda we only had to be back on board at 7:30pm. Would have loved for it to be the other way around. But this cruise was so good that I am already planning the next!!

This was a nice European... by edua

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Pacifica

This was a nice European cruise. For those that speak English and are American, keep in mind it is an Italian cruise line. The food is definitely geared towards that. This was very different than the Caribbean cruises we have been on with primarily only Italian food on it, though the Italian food is excellent. Must pay for quite a few extras including coffee outside of breakfast, shuttles to leave the port at most stops, and ice cream at any time. Games and entertainment had quite a bit of English and several staff spoke at least 4 languages.

West Mediterranian cruise by vinko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

It was our first cruise and it was great. The boat was clean and well organised. The staff was friendly and mostly speak english despite the comments I've read earlier. We took Brindiamo drink package and I suggest it as well to save some money and enjoy your cruise. The weather was also great and we really enjoyed and relaxed.

Had a good time on... by swhelan1

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Pacifica

Had a good time on this ship. Food was good - sat us with a table of people who only spoke russian so we tended to do buffet for dinner as we couldn't get a table for 2. Very good pastas (as to be expected) Drinks were ok - cocktails all tasted bland and ready made tasting. Prosecco and wines were much better standard however. Cabin was dated but fully functional. Had everything we needed. The entertainment was of a good quality and we enjoyed most shows.

Despite some of the poor... by Cruisewigs

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Pacifica

Despite some of the poor reviews we had a wonderful time! We met 4 new cruisers and they loved it too. OK. A few niggles. They no longer give free water at dinner, and no hot drinks at lunchtime as they did before. If you like a tipple or two -buy a drinks package -excellent value compared to single drinks, as on any cruise. The ship was very clean, our cabin was kept spotless. The entertainment in the theatre was OK -the dancers were excellent -but plenty of other venues to visit too. The announcements in several languages could be a pain, but hey ho it’s only for a few minutes! The food was good, but wouldn’t have had dinner in the buffet - and the entertainment by the waiters on a couple of nights was wonderful. No problems finding a sun bed on most days, but obviously on the day at sea it was more challenging but we found one! We don’t do ships trips. In Marseille We paid for the shuttle bus, and drove by the port gate where a shuttle was free -but only for those who didn’t mind the long walk out of the port. The shuttle to Valencia was essential, and it was a lovely place to visit. Sadly the end of our holiday was a disappointment thanks to the French air transport strike and we were delayed by 4 hours spending 10 hours at the airport before we took off. However, some folk didn’t take off at all, and had an unexpected extension to their holiday. With Costa you get what you pay for - it’s the itinerary that counts and it’s what you make it! This was my 4th Costa Cruise and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Nice Trip, Good Ship, Italian style by agnesdohos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Among the shore excursions the ROMA and StPeter excursion was fabulous, thanks to the guides that were accompaniing us (ENG speaking), no matter that there were.

The Sardegna Cagliary excursion of Olive and Wine was pretty weak. The visited sites (olive farm and winary ) were interesting, but the young lady guides were pretty uncompetent.

The Ship itself - COSTA PACIFICA- is pretty good, though little bit more shabby than the Fascionosa (we were cruising in 2016 with). The serving staff were kind and very pleasant.

The food on the ship was realy not so tasty. The Breakfas variety was good according to expectations, but the coffe served were blaaaah (hot and tasteless). We were avoiding the the lunch on deck 9- because of huge mass production and mass-tasty- we often had lunch on the shore. The dinner menu seemed well planned, but the cooking was worse than in Fascionosa last year.

We had Samsara Room reservation- and could not realy make advantage of the free spa entrance, as the hot tub and hot saunas has not so much advantage on hot summer days.

The drink package "Brindiamo" covered fully our expectations. We are not coctail fans, but prefer more than 1 bottle wine/day , coffee and water.

GREAT CRUISE EXPERIENCE-Baltic Sea on Costa Pacifica in August by crashcutt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Pros: We had a great time on this cruise with our teenager in a triple room (bunk bed). We loved the itinerary and would highly recommend Costa for the Baltic Sea! The staterooms were very nice. The ship was clean and well-maintained. Overall, the staff was very helpful. The food at New York, New York was very good and the service was excellent. We had no problems getting on or off the boat from excursions. Muster station exercise was organized. We had no problems with people smoking. Minor maintenance issues that cropped up were taken care of within an hour. We are moderate drinkers and were very happy that we did not buy the package. Bottled water was included with our dinner. We shared a carafe of wine at dinner and it was very reasonable. Buffet lines were not too long for breakfast. Singers were very good. Cons: site stated that we would be stopping in Denmark. Costa site stated it was an at-sea day. (which it was) Lido deck and restaurants were decorated like a Carnival cruise. (who knew?) Other than the singers, the entertainment was not exactly top notch. We stopped going. Disappointed that the pizza wasn't better. "Venus Beauty Spa" no-showed every activity on the Lido deck that we attempted to participate in. Boo! Teen zone activities were "eh"-but our teen isn't really a joiner anyway. My teen was disappointed that there wasn't a free soft-serve ice cream machine. (He did catch on to ordering double desserts.)  Overall: great cruise experience. Would cruise with Costa again!

Not a A Good Cruise at all by myer22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This cruise is not for Americans who have cruised before and have enjoyed customer service. On American cruises you have the option of not attending the dinners and opting to eat at the buffet. This is not an option on this cruise. The buffet lunch was from 3-6 pm. After 6pm, the dinner is the only food available so you have no choice but to attend if you want to eat again before morning. It also takes a few days to get adjusted to the fact that ice isn't very common in Europe so few ice machines had ice in them. You had to decide if you wanted to eat your food cold and have cold water (spent about 10 minutes looking for the ice machine that had actual ice) or warm food with warm water. Also the staff was incredibly rude. The waiters would leave dishes on the table for extended period of time. They would actually walk right by it. One waiter actually rolled his eyes at a couple who asked him to clear a table so they could sit. Our waiter at dinner would only give us one glass of water during our 1.5 hour meal experience. We quickly had to learn how to conserve our glass of water. We also went once to the excursion desk to ask about a possible excursion with the ship. Any one would have thought they would be jumping at the chance to gouge us. The lady at the desk did not even greet me when I said hello. I asked about a trip and was told that it was not available but to check the self-service computer for me to book it on my own. It was not available although I was told it was. Safe to say I didn't not go back to the excursion desk again. I thought our experience was an individual one on this cruise but we met six other Americans on this cruise and they all had the same experiences. We were all stunned.

Great expectation, but disappointed with food, entertainment programs, services and activities.  Comparing with my previous cruises, it was the worst one.

A disappointing cruise ship by nicolecll

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I have been on 4 different cruise companies and this on is the most disappointing one and the most expensive one. The worst things is that the toilet smells no matter how much the staff and us clean it. terrible smell (feels like the urine smell from ages ago)

Italian Cruise by Sherylraj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I thought the cruise was wonderful. The stops were interesting and had plenty to do. The food and service was good. It wasn't over the top as I have heard other cruise lines are, but for the money I felt it was acceptable. The only negative was that communication was a huge issue. I spent about 6 hours in line with customer service to try to understand some of the excursion info and details related to the all inclusive drink package.

This cruise is not for everyone by jm3647

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

If you like to experience how European live, you might enjoy the cruise. Overall experience was good, but could be amazing with some small improvements. Food was amazing. Shore excursion staffs were rude and not very bright. When we purchased the excursion, they did not tell us when and where we should gather. When I went to ask them, the male staff looked at me as if I was retarded, and pointed out the tiny prints on bottom of daily activity sheets. We were on vacation. It should not be our job to study the fine prints when we purchase the tour. I did not purchase any tour from them afterward. Costa may try to broadcast the announcement through TV channel use different languages or subtitles instead of announce once. My cruise experience would be a lot more pleasant. There were some people booked the flight close to debarking. However, the ship took our passport and did not give us back until the ship docked. The cruise line should advise passengers do not book the flight too close to debark to avoid heart attack.

First Costa Cruise - Poor Dining Experiences! by habsfan1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My wife and I travelled with our three year old on our first Costa cruise and dining experiences were extremely disappointing for many reasons: - we ordered a hamburger for m son it was not cooked. We sent it back to only receive another hamburger cooked even less than the first! - a beef dish that I ordered was raw. I had it sent back and what came back was as raw as the first. - we had very long waits during dinner, sometimes as much as 30 minutes between dishes served. - on our last night, we were one of the first people to arrive in the Your Way dining; others that sat later than us were served before us. Better attention to detail required! The mandatory "hotel charge" was a surprise to us. When discussing this with the staff, the explained it's tip for the workers. I am accustomed to tip for good service. Having to play for subpar service does not see righ to mel
