very disappointed by davmustang66

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean

the cruise line is setup for Europeans not Americans, very few of the crew spoke English and were not helpful and somewhat rude. The food was not as good as other cruise lines and there was limited time that the buffets were open. You also had to pay for water and if you used the internet it was very expensive , 78 cents per minute. It seemed if you were American you were not welcome. Not as much to do on the ship as other cruise lines. Needed more information from the ships crew about everything

Never Again by melcole

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean

Crying  The cruise line was terrible in the way we and other guests were treated.  Tours were arbitrarily canceled, important information for passengers was not clearly presented and the attitude of those at the management level was condescending and unappreciated. The communication skills of middle management was below our expectations.  The overall entertainment quality on board ship was mediocre at best.  However, the efforts of the wait staff and cabin attendants were very much appreciated.

Anniversary cruise by alizabethramos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The cruise was wonderful.  Not too long (7days) and not too short (4days).  The 5 day cruise introduced us to Marseilles, Savrona, & Rome.  Plus a day at sea.  We love cruises with a day at sea to sleep in, go to the gym, participate in a couple of dance lessons (fox trot, salsa) and just enjoying the day.

The food was very good.  Dinners in the dining room was wonderful; the buffet was also very good.  Didn't enjoy breakfast in the dining room; only the buffet.

The entertainment was not as good as we thought it would be for us.  We don't gamble and the 4D theatre showed only 3-4 movies that did not appeal to us.  But some of the night time entertainment at the main bar was very funny.

Overall, a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

My trip with Costa Luminosa by kvkhorosh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean

Food was TERRIBLE. Portions was so small, that all our table has been order 2-3 plates in the beginng of the diner. Staff in the dining room and cabin stuart poorly train. I rate Service on this ship 3 star. Menue for the breakfast on deck, was SAME all 10 days. Same every day, every day !!!!!.  In the cabin, linen was change only ones for the period of 10 days. Only ones!!!!!! Swiming pool do no have the towels and you must bring every day your towels, from the cabin. But Cruise line do not offered any bags and you looked like " donkey" with all you towels. No bathrops in the cabin. Everythink what you need, you need to ask cabin stuart to bring. Menue for the daily brekfast in the cabin is the same every day and no variaty of the food. I can go an and on. This  line need a lot of changes !!!!!

Our not so great cruise. by barber2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean

We just returned from our 27th and our fourth cruise on Costa cruise linesm trip on the Luminosa. Let me start by saying what we really liked about the cruise. The music and dancing were wonderful. Best on any line! The bands were superb and the dance floors were large and had easy access. The itinerary was good, western Caribbean is always a good trip. Of course, we heard every announcement in five languages, but we knew that was going to happen, so we dealt with it.

The things we did not like were the food. It was very underparr. The choices at the restaurants were very limited, and the food itself was only o.k.

And, who ever  heard of a ship with no dinner time buffet? What is that all about? There were a few nights that we would have liked to eat a quick buffet because of conflicting events and there was none at all. Every night we had to eat in the restaurants and that of course takes time.

The shows were good, very nice costumes but no nice backstage presentation and some of the shows were a one time only showing, so we had to miss our meal to go to see the show, and no food available after that, since our seating was early, and the late seating was full. It was a very strange set up. Also, it took us the first two nights to get a glass of wine, since none of the bars carried wine we had to go to the wine bar itself, which had very limited hours. Finally we got a bottle of wine we liked at our dinner table and the next night they didn't have any more of that type. Again, very disappointing.

The trip was good, beautiful ship, smooth sailing, but would not go back on that particular ship again.

Disoganization by cruisers2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean

For a ship that's  been around as long as this one, they act like they don't know what they are doing, where they are docking, where to find on board actiitivities, changes in activities that no one knows why, etc. etc. etc.

Expect a 2 hour supper--very very slow.

O.K. food. Not the best by a long way. Always out of glasses, spoons, etc. We've been on over 20 cruises, and count this as one of the worst.

Great Cruise! by CherylC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Cruise was great, the itinerary was fantastic, the staff was friendly and helpful, especially our cabin person and waiter. The customer Svs desk were not very friendly, could have been English wasn't their first or even second language, but they came across short and curt. The food was good, cooking for 3000 isn't easy but there was a good variety and plenty.

very good cruise by JoseR2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The ship was very beautiful and everybody knew what they were doing and were very proffessional, the entertainment was good but I woul have preffered more latin music to dance at nights, I think they have too many piano bars and even one with classical music wich I don't see related with these kind of cruises. But overall it was very good. One thing they have to improve is the embarkation process , we spend almost three hours to get on board, we have been on cruises with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity and in less than an hour you are on board.

Excellent ship and staff by prata

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruising Costa is a delight. If you want an European experience, this is your cruise. Their “taste not waste” program is rewarding. There’s no 24 hour unlimited food, hairy chest contests or massive tropical drinks. But the food is exceptional and everything is very well presented. And customer service is the best I have experienced. I’m very disappointed that Costa will no longer embark from Florida. This was my 7th ( out of 34) cruises with Costa and I was looking forward to cruising the Caribbean with them again.

We were unfamiliar with Costa but the price was affordable so we gave it a try. We will certainly go with them again. Don’t let other reviews discourage you. Be prepare for a strong Italian influence, some may not like but we enjoyed completely

Hm... by Sailbright

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Luminosa

The cruise overall was a nice cruise. Once I stepped inside, I had a feeling that the ship was old. They tried their best to keep guests entertained. The crew is respectful and maybe a four on friendliness. The main complaint I heard amongst guests was the lack of service when lounging or in the buffet. They were quick to clean up your plates but never offered to grab you something to drink or refill your cup.

Christmas Cruise by Catsam215

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Luminosa

It was a great cruise. Nice activities for Christmas. A few cons: Buffet only has orange juice in the morning. Other cruise lines offer applies juice, cranberry juice. And lunch buffet only water. Many water stations were always out of ice. And many coffee stations closed. Pool towels are old and worn out. No turn down service at night. Only changed towels 1 a day. Ring promotion-2 for 40.00. They said you have to purchase 2, not 1 at a higher price. Crazy in my opinion..Also Cruise club accessories other cruise lines are $10.00 on. Costa 12.08??? Pros: Very Italian food. A plus for us. Loved specialty coffee’s

Relaxing Cruise by wvfamtravel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Luminosa

We really enjoyed the cruise and Costa. We spent less onboard than ever before as well. Staff and service was excellent. Food was very good. Cabin was quiet and comfortable. Entertainment was the only area that was a little lacking. Just not a whole lot that peaked my interest.
