Review summary

I had expected that the ship might be "worn" but it was beautiful and clean. Mostly Asian service staff with most speaking English. I like the size of the ship, not too large or too small.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was excellent, buffet, Club Luminosa Restaurant, room service. Club Luminosa was Italian food only. Drinks varied greatly by the bar, so if you had a favorite, you probably had to go to a specific bar.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
In room TV was very limited, no movies. Movie theatre had extra charge and was 4D films only with limited hours. Pools and surrounding areas were sufficient for passenger quantities. Didn't participate in other activities, however, be aware, standard announcements are in Italian, times in the program are military, so you need to plan if you want to participate.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Only saw 2 shows, both were visually impactful. Magic show "tricks" a little dated.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
There needed to be more wait staff in bar areas so that we didn't have to go to the bar ourselves as much. No drink service in the theatre.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Tastefully decorated for the holidays. Perfect size ship. Very clean. Exterior of the ship could use a little paint touch up, but otherwise in well maintained condition.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great, however be aware that right below your balcony is a life boat so it does block some of the ocean view and it brightly lighted at night.

Ship tip

This is not a ship of Italian registry cruising from the US, this is an Italian ship with a lot of Italian and other European travelers. Suites are the best value because of add-on costs and they offer other valuable benefits.

Ports of call

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

2 out of 5
Freeport is a shipping port, so very limited views or activity at the port. Our excursion was cancelled due to weather, so I can't comment on the rest of the island or quality of the excursions.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Grand Turk has a great beach and shop area right at the dock.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
This visit was a pleasant surprise. The island was different than the others we visited with beautiful green mountains. Amber Cove was spotless and updated, offered a variety of activities and had welcoming staff.
