nice cruise to europe by ibarnes6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe

Ship announcements need to be improved. They do not need to be every 5 minutes and they need to be in English also. 1/2 of the announcements that were given were in other languages so it was hard to understand what was said.

Beautiful Mediterranean cruise by cbushong

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Loved the cruise - wish for more variety in buffet of deck 10 but enjoyed the restaurant when we had time for it. Coffee was not always available! Add iced tea to menu! Shows were great and the staff was always polite and helpful.

Ship was good. People tried to help you all the time even if they wouldn’t speak your language. However, I didn’t like that during sometime in the afternoon all restaurants and food places were closed. Nothing to eat!!!!! Also that all drinks were charged for, even water😳

Very Good Cruise by ticicm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Just got home from the... by paulbradley

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Diadema

Just got home from the Costa Diadema, great ship , quality of food and choices available was excellent. The cruise overall was above my expectations. There are one or two niggles tho. 1 No free water in the main dining room but it was available in the buffet. ...Our way around this was to buy a 1lt bottle of water from one of the bars on the first day, and refilling it each night in the cabin and storing in the mini bar until the next evening. No problems taking your own bottle of water into the main dinning room. 2 Poor sound proofing in the cabins, take some ear plugs you may need them. 3 Did not like the lack of ice cream in the main dinning room. This is because they want you to use the pay for ice cream parlor. The "Baked Alaska" parade turned out to be a sponge cake in disguise and no ice cream in sight.

They do not care about customer service by costareview

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I wanted to take my mom on a cruise for her upcoming 65th birthday as she loves cruises and they're usually the best way to relax and visit so many different countries/places. We have cruised before with Norwegian Cruise Lines and I have cruised myself several times with Carnival, but as she lives in Bosnia and Herzegovina now, the closest and the best cruise that worked for the dates I was visiting her was Costa Diadema 7 day cruise out of Civitavecchia. Unfortunately, this wasn't such a great birthday cruise trip for her and it was super disappointing for me also who had paid and planned this for her knowing she loves cruises so much. Especially if it's your first time cruising, by all means, please choose a different cruise company, as they simply don't care for customer service or to resolve any issues you will have on the cruise. I have so many details of interactions with guest services/reception, waiters and so much miscommunication and misguidance on their part, but the dining experience was really what every night frustrated us and took away from the whole cruise experience and even the quality of food that was actually pretty good. Costa doesn't compare to other cruise lines. It’s ironic that I never received a satisfaction survey email from Costa even though I signed up to receive it, but at the same time speaks to how much they (don’t) care about customer service or opinion. All in all, not a super welcoming or friendly type of cruise, but its destinations, food, and dancing activities boost it up to average.

Just a cruise! by rapllaw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Having cruised with different cruise lines and having taken a Mediterranean one to other cities like Venice, Athens, Greek islands, Istanbul, and other Italian and France ports, i do not recommend you take this cruise, you'll be disappointed. Also, if you don't speak Italian it will be difficult to communicate with other passengers

Ship: Costa Diadema

Loved it! Wasn't expecting much to be honest after reading some other reviews on here but I have to say I couldn't find fault with any of it. Brilliant food, fantastic service in the main restaurant from our waiter Gusti and generally a great fun cruise on a massive boat with plenty of room to sun bathe. Would definitely go again.

The best word I can... by RedEyedRobot

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Diadema

The best word I can think of to describe this 7 day cruise around the Mediterranean is "magical". Getting to see Savona Italy, Marseille France, Barcelona Spain, Palma de Mallorca, Cagliari, and Rome all in one trip was beyond awesome. The buffet food was always good, the people we met on the boat were all amazing people, and the entertainment was top notch. I would do this cruise again in a heartbeat. I only wish I could have spent more time in each city.

Costa Diadema is OVERPACKED, NOISY, BAD EXPERIENCE OVERALL by fromFLORIDA777

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I recently cruised on the brand new Costa Diadema "Jewels of the Western Mediterranean" 7 night itinerary, departing Barcelona on June 29, 2015.  VERY DISAPPOINTING. I have cruised on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and the Bahamas Express. Costa is BY FAR THE WORST in every way imaginable. It was so overpacked that I could not sit down to breakfast or lunch even ONCE. I was forced to sit at tables with somebody else's dirty dishes. There are no forks, no knives, no spoons nor napkins unless you sit at a table, and since NO TABLES are EVER vacant you can imagine how unpleasant mealtime is.  Same buffet every single day. No eggs, no hot food unless you go to restaurant which is so crowded there's no chance of getting in. One day I took a shore excursion that departed at 8:15 a.m. so I ordered breakfast to be delivered to my room at 7:30 a.m. I am diabetic so eating before a long day of walking is important. They never delivered my breakfast. I called room service and the person who answered the phone promised it was on its way, but they never came. I called back and they hung up on me (probably can see room number.) II purchased the all inclusive beverage package, but it doesn't include bottled water. They charge $3.50 for bottled water. The pools are tiny and dirty, again overpacked. No deck space, never a lounge chair. The elevators are SLOW, PACKED or always reserved for luggage transport. Unruly children hit every button making the elevators stop on every floor.  I had to walk up and down 9 flights of stairs every time I left my cabin. There were so many noisy children running up and down the halls and yelling even at 3:00 a.m. No staff member is empowered to do anything. Internet speed terrible and a scam. The Costa portal makes you purchase a new hour for $10 euros, then kicks you off after five minutes use.  Then force you to purchase another hour. Very confusing and I am tech saavy.. I paid about $70 to use their internet for a total of about 20 minutes. No staff member has authority to credit your account.  They make you waste your time when you have a legitimate reason to seek a credit to your bill.  The poor employees are exhausted and underpaid.  Few speak or understand English. Terrible disorganization. For example I was required to attend a disembarkation meeting at a specific time and specific place. I show up and the employee yells something loud in Italian. No rhyme or reason for the meeting. They require you to leave your luggage out the night before you disembark, so how are you supposed to shower and get dressed the day you leave? I can't think of one reason to cruise on Costa, even if the trip is FREE. It is seriously that bad and I am not normally a picky person. CHoose a different cruise line, even if you pay a little bit more.

The voyager is a milking cow by perdun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship is new, big and beautiful.

The crew are very friendly and efficient, our cabin on deck 7 with balcony was Perfect, the breakfast

and lunch were more than satisfactory - this is about the good things.

What realy pissed me off were the following issues:

* The ship was over crowded around the clock - breakfast, miserable pools, lunch, entertainment - where

ever you go you have to struggle for a chair. Even the sunbathing decks were not reachable.

The performances are very colorfull, very loud and tasteless. A good potion to fall asleep.

And now comes the biggest issue - MONEY.

Everything is EXTRA - drinking water (before and after lunch), esspresso or capuccino for breakfast etc.

Dinner - you get a table number in one dining hall ( what is called restaurant) and at  that table

you will have your dinners during the trip. You want a diffrent restaurant? Be ready to pay Extra $35.00.

A shore trip organized by Costa cost 3 times more the one you purchase in port.

Finaly, you take a Queue number for the customers desk in order to clear your balance.

Now you find out that you owe Costa $9.00 per night per person - HOTEL SERVICE, what mean's

in plain English - TIPS for the crew. The crew does not get a payroll. This is their salary.

dont go to the Spa. its a waste of money and worst service. by Brianbravo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

My wife and I, took the 75 minute Spa massage. It was the worst spa we have ever received. For the first 15 minutes, the person is explaining what happens in your muscles due to certain chemicals in your body and drawing a picture of the muscles. This was really odd, but obviously a set up for a sales pitch. And at the very end, for another 15 minutes, she is trying to sell you vitamins and herbal medicines. This was 30 minutes that was taken from our 75 minute spa. I don't think it was right for us to be charged 196 Euros per person ( a total of 392 Euros ) and get this type of service. When I complaint to the manager, Bianka Mariotti, she said "its like going to a restaurant and coming back the next day saying the pasta was salty and you wanted a refund". I thought that was very disrespectful and very poor customer service on her part. This will be the first and last time we take a Costa Cruise and we will tell our friends never to book Costa. We have always had great service in Carnival and Norwegian.

MAGIC by red1980

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Normally I do not leave any feedback for my travels but this time I feel that Costa Crociere and Logitravel totally deserve it. It has been an amazing cruise from the very beginning till the end. Not even one small complaint. Costa Diadema is marvellous, perfectly organized, the food is great, fresh and comprehends amazing recipes (even better if you consider that there were 5000 people to be feeded). Unlimited and delicious cocktails all day long. The staff is always smiling and willing to help you. Everywhere is clean and tidy. The cruise organization is a perfect machine and happiness is guaranteed.

A special mention also to Logitravel (and Cristian) which helped me organizing this cruise. I will contact them again for sure. They have been kind and professional at the same time. Long story short congratulations to Costa Crociere and Logitravel, well done, keep it up.

Beautiful Ship! by rblyntipsword

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Diadema / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The bar on 5th level was just below our suite. Could not sleep until it closed at 1:00 A.M. Bar should be located in another part of ship or close at 10:00 p.m. The other problem was this was to be a no smoking cruise or at least area....there was so much cigarette smoke in the hallway, it seeped into our room not to mention trying to leave/return to our room. I can't say enough nice things about our steward. He was fun, made great towel animals and kept everything neat. The food was wonderful as well.
