Great Caribbean Cruise Italina Style by arraes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a New Year's cruise for us (on Jan 2nd). We were lucky with great temperature which allowed us to enjoy the marvelous itineray proposed - a long loop in the Caribbean with 6 islands and 3 full sea days. The ship is basic but comfortable and clean, service is great, food is the best point of our trip. We do recommend it

This Ship Sucks by snguyenx96

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean - Western

So I'm just gonna be straightforward with the good, bad, and the ugly. Buckle up kiddos, because you're in for quite a ride with this one. GOOD: -Embarking and Disembarking was a very simple process -- usually pretty quick. -Rooms were nice and clean with decent amount of space -- Balcony rooms came at a great rate. -Photographers were experienced and friendly. Pretty much were willing to try whatever you wanted for memorable photos. -Great if you want to interact with people from different cultures & diverse backgrounds. BAD: -You could literally feel the ship moving at all times. We've been on other cruise ships before and no other ship has rocked as much as this one to the point where it interrupts your day. Members of my family were literally sick for whole days on this ship because you could constantly feel the rocking. Apparently this is a common problem because the front desk gives out seasickness pills for free... -All help desks/excursion desks are open at strange times and for very short hours. -There is a language barrier a lot of times in general with most employees because most of them speak Italian, French, or Spanish as a primary language. Service overall is TERRIBLE. -Waitstaff is understaffed, especially in the main dining room. Service is slow due to the fact that one waiter is assigned to about 4 tables to serve 3-5 course meals per table without assistance. Meals can last up to 3 hours. -Nothing is included in your package except for dinner and the buffet. All other food places, spa areas, snacks, movie theater, even WATER, etc. all cost extra. This was different for us compared to Royal Carribean because all snacks, movies, and such were included. -Pool is tiny. Only two hot tubs. Not much on the top deck. -Not much to do when at sea. Entertainment is basically the same performers doing different things. Mostly music acts. "Parties" only include a DJ and pretty much nothing else. The only club on board is what the ship uses as the "Teen Club" during the day and converts it into the adult club at starting at midnight. UGLY: -Excursions poorly planned and priced. Most excursions are 2x-3x more expensive than if you purchased the same trip after arrival at the local excursion booths. We signed up for an ATV adventure and it was not in the pamphlet nor did they tell us ahead of time that we needed Sneakers and Drivers Licenses with us when we arrived. One employee told us it was fine, but another told us 15 min before departure that it was mandatory. Had to run all the way back to the ship to collect our things frantically, returned only for the group to have left without us. Employees were rude when we asked questions and basically told us it wasn't their problem. Highly DO NOT recommend doing excursions with Costa. If you HAVE to take this ship, do excursions with the locals on land!!! -Food is poor quality-- bland and very strong/unclean tasting fish. For an Italian ship, pasta was often not made very well. Was often undercooked and sauces were bland. There was also never much variety. You will basically be eating the same food every day. -Food areas are open at weird times. The buffet is open for about 2-3 hours at a time for meals. If you're hungry for a snack or something in between, you will have to pay extra at other places. TL;DR The service sucks. The food sucks. The experience sucks. This ship sucks. If you want a floating hotel, this is a cheap option. If you want a cruise, look to Royal Carribean, Princess, Carnival, or Norwegian instead. This is not worth your time or money.

Terrible customer service by an European cruise line trying to enter the American market by miasea90

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Having had been on 10+ cruises before (Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, MSC) I have to say that this cruise line is the worst when it comes to customer service. Travelers used to good customer service should not sail with Costa. We sailed as a family for New Years 2018, and while we had a good vacation overall, it certainly was not due to the staff aboard the Costa Deliziosa. It felt like not only were they understaffed at all times, every day; but the staff was also grumpy - felt like they were just there to get the job done and get their paycheck. While you can see the details of our experience below, overall, I would not want to sail Costa again, or would recommend it to any American friends, or anyone that expects decent customer service.

As a travel agent this... by joe4stc

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Deliziosa

As a travel agent this was my first time on any Costa cruise ship and it was absolutely great. The ship did it's first sailing from the us this year from PT Everglades. The food was always hot on the buffet and dining room. Keep in mind this is a Italian cruise line. If you are not a real Italian don't go on this cruise line, you won't like it. This is the 1st time I got lamb chops on a buffet and was great. The entire staff that I dealt with was very nice. I can not believe all of the bad reviews I read and it was all lies. Lies, lies, lies.

I won't be never on board Costa Deliziosa again! by Evelyn214

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I was shocked and totally disappointed. Some crew(especially in Restaurant & security, immigration) was very very very very rude. It was my first experience ever that I've got badly treated among all my travel. We complained after 3~4 days after long patience with unfairly treated. And we met their managers. Yes, they said sorry but they were busy to say in excuse. It was my 7th cruise trip, my 2nd Costa cruise. I don't pay for only floating with big ship, I pay for good service. It wasn't cheaper than other cruise ship but the service quality was the worst and terrible. Every ports of call was very nice but we had very short time. We had to rush all the time. No more Costa Deliziosa. I won't recommand Costa Deliziosa to people in my travel club.

eastern mediterian was great by robertbilic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The eastern Mediterian is great to see. Especially Santorini and Split. The boat is nice. The cabin was also big and everything was clean. Few times public toilets were not so clean. During a day at least, one restaurant should work and foud should be better. Much better. Pizza place should work all day, not just from 19h. Pizza should be for free. Pizza is not exclusive food. Next time I'll go with MSC.

Overall a disappointing cruise! Service... by TaliTib

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Deliziosa

Overall a disappointing cruise! Service was terrible, some employees were rude and disrespectful and food was an awful experience.. I was expecting more from an Italian chef and cruise line.. The time spent in each port was extremely short, causing some tours to be cut short to meet the departure time; unfortunately the ship never departed in expected time, so we just missed small part of tours. Not enough entertainment onboard, except for few musicals; was hoping for some (maybe) magic and illusionists.. Would I do this itinerary again? Yes, beautiful places.. Would I use this cruise line again? Definitely NOT!!!

Absolutely Memorable Cruise!! by Angela1951

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After reading numerous complaints regarding this cruise, I was concerned because we were travelling with another couple who had never been on cruise before. Everything about the Costa Deliziosa was exceptional. The food, entertainment, excursions were of the highest quality. The crew were always available, polite and extremely helpful. Our guests totally enjoyed the experience and are anxious to take another Costa Cruise. This was our 5th cruise with Costa and as always it did not disappoint. We highly recommend any Costa cruise if you enjoy Italian food and culture. Thank you, everyone on the Costa Deliziosa!! Until next time!!

Great cruise. Good value for... by snia85

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Deliziosa

Great cruise. Good value for the bucks 2 Adults traveled with 2 kids age of 4 and 7. We loved this cruise. Much because of the friendly Philippines and Indian waitresses and stewards. They were very kind and polite to us, and I think this was the best with the cruise. The room was spacious and clean. Lots of activities for the children onboard. Sports field, children’s club, outside playground, arcade and more. RCCL got more activities and pools, but is also more expensive. The food was great and I think the main dinner in the restaurant was even better than what we got on RCCL cruise. Our only negative experience with the ship was our meetings with the Italian crew onboard, which could need a course on service and how to treat customers. The medical center were the worst, were the women’s working there was everything else than friendly. It’s a pity, that the people that deserves it the most (Philippines and Indians) gets the lowest salary and have the worst conditions. They deserve more....

Just got off Cost Deliziosa... by Catsam215

Sail date: /
Ship: Costa Deliziosa

Just got off Cost Deliziosa and loved it. Embarkation was easy. Even though their terminal is very old. Ship a little old, bit clean and they were constantly cleaning. We were upgraded to an ocean view. The room was big, plenty of closet space. Room steward was terrible. He introduced himself and asked how many times I would like the room cleaned ??? Once or twice a day. I asked for 2x and extra towels. Aldo they don’t give wash clothes unless you ask. So i asked for them. So somedays, he forgot the wash clothes, somedays no hand towels . One day before dinner I called house keeping for wash clothes, her response was ok, how many ? I answered 2. At 11:30 they still never arrived. I called again. Finally someone came with 3 hand towels and 3 bath towels. I said I don’t need this, the response was, we don’t have any wash clothes.😜😜 Pool towels are now left in your room. On a 10 day cruise, my steward forgot them at least 5 times. Had terrible weather, no sun, cold and rain. But still enjoyed it. The animation team Giacomo, Elesandro and company were greAt. Soo much to do. Theatre shows were great. Food was amazing. Only complaint no pancakes, waffles, or bagels in buffet. Only pancakes and waffles in main dining room. Italian food was authentic and very good.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Worst cruise every. Very unfriendly, disorganized, short staffed, horrible food and service and ran out of food and drink each day with lengthy delays in replenishing them. Don't go on this cruise unless you want to waste your money and have a bad time!!!!

Costa Don't Care by phoenixlinz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

Obvious by comments on this page that Costa don't care, I had unfortunately booked 2 cruises on the same ship the Deliziosa , one I went on in September and the other booked for December 1st, the only saving grace was I was eating in Costa Club as a Diamond level passenger as service and entertainment was very poor. Imagine when I boarded for my December cruise to be told I could not have the Costa Club dining and I was to eat at 9.30, I asked to speak to a manager, was refused and eventually met up with 2 girls one a supposed superviser both verbally assaulted me wanting me to sign a piece of paper saying I would not be claiming a refund, I went to leave the ship got blocked by 3 security men, but eventually got off the ship collected my case and returned home, without signing my rights away. Surprise, surprise Costa have not responded to my e mail so beware don't book with Costa their benefits to keep you loyal are non existant.
