Review summary

We had wonderful weather which made this cruise all the more magnificent. We had one day of drizzle and the remaining days were sunny and between 58-70 degrees. Because of the sun we were able to appreciate the magnificence of Alaska.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was streamlined and a simple process to follow.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The Oceanview Cafe was the best buffet experience of any cruise (8+) that we’ve been on. Fantastic! One of the places we enjoyed the most was Cafe Al Bacio. It was the perfect spot for a pastry, latte or afternoon tea.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness center was very nice with lots of machines and options. The Solarium pool was warm and relaxing and enjoyed the fact that there were special hours for children.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We participated in some of the trivia games as well as bingo. They were enjoyable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff member that we came in contact with was incredibly polite and always offered to go the extra mile to get us something that we needed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and well-maintained. Tables were cleared and cleaned very quickly in the cafe with the buffet and there were always open tables to sit at.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was excellent. Always clean. The only issue was that several times the toilet stopped flushing for an hour or two while a clog in the vacuum system was removed.

Ship tip

You will have an amazing experience.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Spent some time in Stanley Park before the cruise. It was beautiful.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
It was nice to have a relaxing day at sea for the first day as we recovered from jet lag.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the old West feel of Ketchikan. We did a hike on the Rainbird trail. We’d never hiked ina rainforest before. It wasn’t a difficult hike, but there were lots of ascents and descents over slippery stones. There were many older people with walking issues. It is a tough trail for people with balance issues. We also visited Creek St and Dolly’s House which was very interesting.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Fortress of the Bear was our favorite stop in Sitka. We also enjoyed a hike through the Totem Pole Park and St. Michael’s Church.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We only visited Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau. We were able to get off the trails and walk for quite a distance along the lake front. It was amazing and the glacier was breathtaking. There didn’t seem to be much else to do in Juneau.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
The area right off the ship was lovely. The beach was fun to stroll along and finding sea stars and sea urchins. The Native shops were so much nicer than anywhere else we stopped. Do not waste your time walking to Hoonah. It was very run down and a bit seedy.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Our captain got the ship so close to the glacier. It was absolutely breathtaking up close.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy!
