Word to wise arrive day before departure of cruise. Lost a day and an excursion due to weather. The service, food and beverages were amazing. Took 75 year old mom on her first cruise and asked her thoughts - said it was beyond words. Like the size of the Summit, quality of healthy foods and the superior service. Picked Aqua Class as mom walks treadmill 3 miles a day and eats healthy. Loved the new Aqua Class cabin 1012 we were in. So close to spa, pools and Spa Cafe. Only heard club on Deck 11 for about three songs one night and it was the bass beat. Not loud just the rhythm. Seas were calm and you could feel the motion of the ocean, but mom and I liked being rocked to sleep every night. I highly recommend the Summit for 40's and up cruisers. We were on the ship during Easter vacation, so more children than usual, but really not that many and they were well behaved. Blu was amazing; loved Elvis, Arun and Michael, plus Irina and Joe. Jennifer made the best smoothies in the AquaCafe. Everyone on the ship staff was friendly, courteous, helpful, and gave exceptional customer service (aside from bag handling due to day late arrival). Have cruised Carnival once (never again), Royal Caribbean (great with kids) and Celebrity (my personal favorite). Great service and value for the money.
Embarkation

Let's start with trying to change flights days prior to departure due to storm front expected. Called Celebrity Travel who we booked flights through and was told "No worries, we guarantee we'll get you there." Said I'd pay to fly in a day early and again "No worries". Are you sure? we'll pay to change flights. Again "No worries, we'll get you there" Well they didn't get us there. Our flight was cancelled last minute with no explanation from airlines. Called emergency services and after a 6 hour ordeal, had a flight to Atlanta, with overnight at hotel, then flight to second stop a couple hours before ship departure. So missed a day on ship and first day excursion. When arrived at airport at first stop, Celebrity rep met us, we grabbed our bags and rolled them out to van some distance from baggage claim. Rep dropped us at gang plank where we waited in the hot sun for our turn to board ship through security and baggage checks. Once through security check Celebrity staff wanted us personnally to take our bags to our cabin. My 75 year old mother and I both had a 50lb bag, a rolling carry on and a backpack. Our room was on the 10th deck forward and we were on 3rd deck mid. You get the idea, it was a trek. We were able to convince a crew member this was not feasible and they finally agreed to take our two large bags to cabin.

Joe the maitre de was great. All the servers were excellent, but our favorite by far, were Elvis, Arun and Michael. We were only at sea one day and used the Oceanview Cafe and Sunset Bar. RoseMarie was the sweetest. They were out of beverage of choice, RoseMarie asked where seated and brought drink to table. Amazing Service.

We enjoyed the spa, the club on deck 11, missed the shows (next time), used spa pool area. Live music we experienced passing through was wonderful. Watched a Tango lesson our friends were taking.

They were out of beverage of choice, RoseMarie asked where seated and brought drink to table. Amazing Service. Sanya was our room steward. No towel animals or chocolates, but was helpful with hiding our bags and keeping our room to perfection.
Ship Quality

Love the new updates. The art work was really different, but leads to lots of discussion. Everything was well maintained and loved the bathroom attendant next to Blu. Wish we caught her name as she even sang for us. The ship staff is quick with a smile and hello. And to pick up after messy people.
Cabin / Stateroom

Love the new updates. We did stay in a completely brand new cabin on deck 10 Aqua Class. The only challenge was the new shower controls, but once figured out the push button on dial for hot water, all was perfect.
Ship tip
Word to the Wise: Arrive a day early to your departure destination. Don't listen to Celebrity's travel people.
A little confusion on bags as had a day travel delay. Was told to put bags out by 6 pm day before, so we did, went to dinner and came back to find them in room. We had to take them to Guest Services on 3 at 8AM ourselves. Then take them up to 4 to disembark, drag them all over to get to customs, again with my 75 year old mom. A huge thank you to all the passengers who helped us.
