Review summary

This really was a fantastic adventure for our family. The ship was beautiful, the service and food were excellent, and I believe that we had the best itinerary possible. We have been on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruise this in the past. Always fantastic. Highly recommend.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Cab driver brought us from San Juan airport directly to the ship. Whole experience of getting checked in through security and paperwork took about 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food, drink, and service were fantastic. We had breakfast in the main dining room each morning. Ordering off the menu was wonderful. Dinner in the main dining room lately. Our waiter and sommelier were amazing. My two adult sons and wives were there as well. Everyone treated us like we were the only people in the room. Food options in the main dining room are plentiful; something for every pallet. Our waiter make sure that my wife had plenty of gluten-free options every evening. Our wine steward helped us make choices to complement our meals. We have the premium drink package for every member of our group. We sampled new things without having to worry about additional costs.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Our itinerary had us in a new port/island every day. My wife and I stayed on board a couple of extra days because we had been to those islands before. Our kids and their spouses went out and explored. We laid by the pool, people watching and having a cocktail. There were activities everywhere, but we didn’t participate.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We went to a couple of shows in the main theater. The best by far are the comedians. Song and dance programs were fun and engaging.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Again, our waiter and sommelier were amazing. Every dinner was special and fun. We went to the sushi restaurant (sushi on 5 - hard to turn down unlimited sushi and sake). The kids insisted we have dessert and after dinner drinks in the main dining room. Mostly because of our staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved our ship. Recent revolution renovations made it up to date, Pleasant and comfortable. Getting around the ship was very easy because it was not a mega ship. Also, I understand our ceiling was full, but never crowded.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was perfect. Our room steward made sure we had plenty of clean towels and all the amenities. Every time we left the room he was picked up before we came back. New design and bedding was very comfortable. We loved it

Ship tip

You have to get a martini (or 10) at the martini bar by the casino. Great energy, great drinks great mixologists. We were there every night.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
We went into town to San Juan/ old town when we got back to port at the end of our cruise. Beautiful fort in downtown area. Plan to come back again and spend several days.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas Did not visit port

We have crew several times and been to Saint Thomas. Although beautiful, we decided to spend the day on board. He was quiet, peaceful and relaxing.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Saint Kitts was nice. Took a cab ride to a beach for sun, cocktails and lunch.

St. John's, Antigua

Got off the boat after breakfast. Caught a cab to Jolly beach. Stunning. Great lunch at castaways.

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5
This was another day that we stayed on the ship rather than going into town. We understand that St. Lucia has beautiful beaches, but the ship was fabulous as well.

Bridgetown, Barbados

4 out of 5
Barbados was a lot of fun. We did a tour of the Mount Gay rum distillery. Tour was educational and the tastings were delicious. We also took an excursion to snorkel with sea turtles and shipwrecks. The excursion was great. However, there was disappointment about transportation. We were told/believed that we were traveling on a catamaran and ended up on a pontoon boat. Definitely not the same experience. More than half the passengers were from the celebrity summit. Many others shared their disappointment.

Disembarkation

We had breakfast in the main dining room really that morning. Left the ship around 9:30 AM. We carried our own bags. Breezed through customs and security. Short cab ride against traffic to the airport. Couldn’t ask for more.

Was this a Pre or Post Revolution cruise? The Summit is a beautiful ship either way, but wondered if it was post-Revolution, what your thoughts were.
