Review summary

Celebrity Summit to Southern Caribbean on November 5th 2016; this is the first cruise my wife and I have been on and I would never consider another cruise with Celebrity even if they paid me to go on it! My family and I felt very unwelcome on the boat from the moment we began to board and met the first rude employee who doesn't want to be there. The overall mood and experience on the boat is just very negative and we couldn't wait to get off. The boat is extremely boring while on board due to lack of restaurants and entertainment, it felt like the last cruise before they went out of business. Every single one of the employees are all foreign and can barely speak English, they are rude and act like they hate their jobs at Celebrity Cruises. These are not the type of people I want to spend my vacation around or pay a cruise line to be treated poorly. All the pools and hot tubs are packed all day and evening with senior citizens. The people that cannot fit in the overcrowded pools and hot tubs are running around in speedos and bikinis that expose way too much skin for their age. Everything on the boat closes down at 9pm, including the pools and bars, so you have no choice but to head back to the cramped out dated room and go to bed in the worst mattress you will ever encounter in your life. If you smoke, its forbidden anywhere except where they tell you its allowed otherwise you will be charged $250, I felt like a criminal for trying to enjoy my vacation and have a smoke. If you want to enjoy your vacation by having a drink and cigarette, its not allowed unless there is an open seat in their very limited "smoking areas", what a joke. The cruise line doesn't want to ruin other non-smoking people's vacation by letting their guests smoke on their balcony or at any bars, but they will let all these senior citizens run around wearing underwear and thongs, absolutely horrible business management. You are assigned a "room attendant" in which you rarely see unless he's knocking at the door or bothering you, asking when your leaving so he can make the bed. The boat is the complete opposite of luxury, it feels like an old worn out motel; several of the lights in our room were not working, the mini fridge items are warm, the balcony is all rusty, the mattress is horrible, everything is outdated, I could go on and on all day, im just happy we are off the ship! Oh and even if you have a beverage package, you cannot drink the items in the room mini fridge because those are not free. You can drink a Coke or water from the fridge, but then you have to walk downstairs and get a free one with your beverage package and put it back in the fridge or they will charge you, mind boggling. Every time you are hungry, you have to deal with the lack of restaurants, rude employees who don't want to be there and doesn't speak English, or you can head to the cafeteria that has old gross food sitting out all day that reminded me of a hospital cafeteria from the 90s. You will find yourself hungry or thirsty thousands of times during the cruise, but hopefully its not at night or you will be searching for a rude employee in the cafeteria to request a coke or bottle of water. During any meal, you feel like a cow during cattle call while everyone pushes and shoves to get a gross cheeseburger or hot dog from the rude employee who doesn’t even understand what your saying because they don’t speak English. You have a scheduled dinner time at their one decent restaurant on the ship, if you miss that then your eating in the horrible cafeteria, so be careful, you are on their schedule on your vacation, not yours! There are about 5 places to eat on the ship, but most only serve dinner and most are an additional cost or require a reservation, its a total disappointment every night. We booked plenty of the shore excursions and planned our days on them, but that didn't matter because they simply cancel them whenever they feel like it and your left with nothing to do, but nobody at Celebrity cares. There is no free wifi on this boat, so you will be completely out of touch with the world during your cruise unless you pay their ridicuIously high price for extremely slow internet. Every time you get on and off the boat, they will ask for your SeaPass card about 5 times, make you walk through metal detectors and treat you like criminals again, instead of like valued customers. The only live entertainment on the entire ship was either the senior citizens singing karaoke or the chinese lady singing 60s American Rock. As for shopping on board, they have plenty of jewlery stores, art stores, & more jewelery stores, thats it! Not even any convenience stores with snacks or drinks or anything, I was totally amazed at how poor the shopping experience was. I could tell you how horrible this vacation was by typing for hours on here, but I am so happy to be off this ship and home I am going to go enjoy my life now that I appreciate much more after dealing with this cruise line I chose for my "vacation". Total waste of money and disappointment I wasted my limited time for vacation on this experience. Bottom line, if you are considering a cruise, try any other cruise line besides Celebrity because it can’t be worse than this!

Wow! Aren't you the entitled one! We have taken 14 cruises with various companies and keep coming back to this ship. NEVER have we experienced what you describe here! Headed back in 3 weeks. Looking forward to the same great service we have come to love!

Hope you never become a senior citizen! Amazing how the young never realize they will be the senior eventually!!!!

Wow. What a rant! You must have been so so miserable. And you couldn't smoke? Oh no! Maybe you should stay home next time and enjoy your cancer sticks alone.

I was on this ship in October 2015 and January 2017. This is a wonderful ship with a great crew. The people working on the ship work 7 days a week and long hours. I've been in the bars later then 11:00pm. So I don't understand where the 9:00pm closing time comes from. The Sea Pass is your personal identification card. You show it once when you get off the ship and once when you get back on. The security/ metal detectors are for everyone's safety and reduces the chances of contraband or weapons being brought back on the ship. Just like airport security. I just can't believe all of the exaggerations.

Wow,  I stopped before reading all of it.    Your travel agent must not have told you what you had booked.  Before your next vacation I would suggest that you do some research so you know what your getting into.
