Review summary

The Celebrity Summit is an older ship but refurbished. The entire ship is spotless and nicely decorated. Our room (oceanview on 3rd floor) was spacious enough and comfortable. I have to say it had one of the bigger shower stalls I've seen on a cruise ship. Not the corner ones that you can't turn around in or bend over. Our cabin steward George was excellent and kept our room in perfect shape. Everyone on staff there was pleasant and courteous, and always smiling. Pinto and Luki in the Dining Room were also excellent. Please Pinto, no more dessert! I can't eat anymore.

The Martini Bar served great drinks and the Revelations Lounge and the Rendez-Vous had great music.

But, I wasn't crazy about the food. Don't get me wrong-there are plenty of options and it's very edible. But I wasn't ecstatic over it. Also, in general, the buffet lunch closed at 2:30. There were limited options after that until it reopened at 5 or so. But they did have a pasta and pizza station open, and served snacks and desserts at "Tea Time" at 4:30. Overall, you really won't go hungry.

We also had the easiest and smoothest disembarking back in San Juan. We elected to Self disembark. We were called to disembark at 7am. The crew held the elevators open for us and we got off and threw the terminal in no time. Were got off at 7:00 and were at the airport by 7:30!

George, our cabin steward was exemplary. He was always there if we needed any help and always with a smile. He satisfied our requests as fast as we made them. Very pleasant, efficient and kept our room in perfect order. Very comfortable cabin, roomy enough for all our stuff.

Ship tip

Try Sapphire Beach in St Thomas-is less crowded and nicer than Megan's Bay which is where all the cruisers and tourists go. South Friars Beach in St Kitts is excellent. It has a beautiful restaurant called Carambola, bathroom facilities, chairs and umbrellas to rent.Very peaceful, good snorkeling
