Review summary

Overall the cruise was a good experience but fell short of a typical experience on Princess Cruise lines. The Celebrity Summit shows it's age and had an obvious sewage problem where sewage gas was detected all around the ship. The logistics of the buffet dining room seem to be awkward when trying to get breakfast and lunch. The evening meal in the same dining room lacks variety and quality. The main dining room had a great menu with excellent food but often had air conditioning problems. The drink package was nice and we had upgraded to the premium package but felt that you could not always get certain brands consistently across all of the bars or dining rooms. This was more evident when it came to ordering wine by the glass which was the main reason that we decided to go with the premium package. The overall selection of wines that fell into the premium package was limited and not very good. In comparison, the wines on Princess Cruises drink package were much better and available in more parts of the ship. We loved the spa pool and the main pool area was very nice but seemed to have problems with the whirlpool baths. There was always an ability to get a chair or lounge by the pools or outside decks. Tours booked were very good with the deboarding process very efficient. Unfortunately reboarding the ship was not the same as their security process was not as streamlined Often resulting in a long line waiting for the security personal to clear individual guests. Entertainment on board was good but not great and staff was noticeably missing poolside . This was our first Celebrity cruise after having cruised many times with other lines. Unfortunately we were not wowed but will give them another try someday on one of the newer ships in their fleet.
