Disappointing Experience

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

This was our 23rd cruise and first one on Celebrity. We chose this ship for the intinerary and because we love RCCL so much, we're told this was a step-up.l
I think not. We are far from fussy people but because it was my birthday, we chose to upgrade to a balcony cabin in the Concierge Class. Discovered right away you can get the same cabin on RCCL and not have to pay extra. Sure there were flowers in the Stateroom and hors d' ouerves every night (and not
very good ones at that). But what you get is a lot of fluff.
Ship needs an overhaul. Stateroom drapes were threadbare enough to see light shining thru them in numerous places. Upon arriving to stateroom, a strong smell of urine in corridor that lasted for days. Spa swimming pool had brown foamy gunk floating in it on several days and wasn't cleaned until 3 days before we disembarked. A lot of the seats in the Celebrity Theater were worn & stained.
Had a very embarassing experience with our Somaliar in the dining room. She was rude and unprofessional. We addressed Guest Relations but as far as we know, no action was taken.
The food was mediocre at best. What was described to you on the menu was not exactly what you ended up with. Food was tasteless.

Pros: Great dinilng room waiter, assistant, & cabin stewards. Specialty restaurant was fabulous. Food and service excellent.,

Cons: Food, rundown ship, plumbing problems, spa cleanliness, bad experience w/ somalier

Recommends Celebrity Summit? No.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica
Took the bus, train, & boat tour. It was okay. Train went thru residential neighborhoods and all the little children came out to wave. That was a highlight. Saw one alligator on the boat portion and a lot of birds.
Huatulco, Mexico
Great little city. Enjoyed a bus ride thru town and stop at the Cathedral. Beautiful. Had lunch at a beach restaurant. My husband was dying for a taco or at least something with taste.
Oranjestad, Aruba
Love Aruba. The beaches and water are beautiful.
Don't Miss: Beaches.
Fuerte Amador, Panama
The transit thru the Panama Canal was so exciting. It did take 8 hrs but well worth it. Enjoyed the scenery. Ship had a great speaker who was an authority on the canal from start to finish and well as the future improvements.
Don't Miss: Panama Canal by night tour.
