Review summary
We joined with friends and family on the Summit for a repositioning cruise to Alaska. We've cruised many times with other lines but this was the first time with Celebrity. We were a little disappointed in the cabin and closet size. We had chosen to book their Concierge Class Cabin which proved to be a great decision. We were greeted with champagne, fresh flowers, fruit and canapes daily plus a wonderful showerhead and great towels in the bathroom. The little touches made this class of service really nice. Our cabin steward, waiter and assistant waiter were also first class. This is the first time we've ever seen the assistant maitre'd on a voyage and she greeted us at our table every night. The entertainment provided on this cruise was the best ever. All the various shows staged by the singers and dancers were thoroughly enjoyable. Unfortunately our problems began at our first port of call, San Francisco. We arrived early for "maintenance" and left late with the Captain advising us of a problem with a thruster pod. We weren't aware that Celebrity has an ongoing lawsuit with the manufacturer and this ship had the same problem a year ago. The result was a cutback in ship speed which forced us to miss two ports, be delayed for our glacier experience and miss the inside passage cruise. But, the real problem was with a large contingent of foreign travelers who were constantly having private meetings and loud discussions throughout the ship. They were threatening lawsuits if they didn't get their money returned and made the trip miserable for the rest of us. Rather than looking on the bright side...we had beautiful weather, excellent food and service and a great cruise, they chose to continually complain and ruined it for the rest of us.Ports of call
