When making your dinner reservations, request a table with a window view. The dining areas are lovely but the view from the dining areas are even better!

Build time on either end to enjoy Seattle. Spend some time in the library - plan to enjoy their formal nights - don't count on too much quality time in Victoria BC.

There are lots of quiet areas on the Solstice if you want to enjoy a quiet cocktail with your companion.

The ship is to be recommended in warmer areas. A trip to Alaska in September is only fun when the weather is good. Staying at the ship is not so pleasant because all the chairs are too big and uncomfortable.

Cafe on 5 is good option for lunch or dinner, never very crowded, great food and service. Aqua cafe on 12 is also good choice for lighter fare. Cafe very crowded on sea days. Always ask for a "deal" when reserving specialty restaurant.

If you go to New Zealand and Sydney, Australia expect high winds most days and a rough ride across the Tasman sea. That's just because of where it is located. Take some duct tape to keep the closet doors from banging. Free Dramamine given onboard. I

Restore food quality, quantity and preparation of dishes to what I experienced two years ago on Equinox. Add additional space between dining room tables.

Go to the Grand Epernay for lunch when it is open. Really much better than the Ocean view cafe.

The buffet dining deck 14 is well designed, no long waiting lines. Sitting relatively easy to find. Nice variety of food.

Just be prepared for constant upselling. Once we understood their practice, we were able to ignore it. At times it actually became funny, how they could find a way to try to sell you something more.

Make your specialty restaurants early if you want early dining. They fill up quickly. Definitely sign up for the beverage package. terrific bargain.

We have tried all three specialty restaurants on board and loved them, Grand Epernay was lovely too, this time we ate mainly at the Ocean View Café, the food was always plentiful and fresh and the variety excellent, I know people complain about tasteless food etc but we did not find this at all.

Tip!!! *Pay for excursions/restaurants/drinks packages/gratuities, etc in the booking and registering stage online in Australia cause you are paying in $AU. Once you are on the ship it is in $US.

The Solstice is a warm and friendly ship. Many things to do every day. You receive a newsletter each evening that outlines the following days activities. We loved the green lawn on the top deck, Bocce ball is lots of fun. Glassblowing presentation was very good. There was even a Hula class.
