Review summary

Having flown along way from Ireland, it was great to relax on a wonderful ship and visit places we could only of dreamed off. Thought the Celebrity Solstice was amazing in every way.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Long queues for sign-on, security and customs.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Put on some weight! Food excellent in main dining room and Ocean View buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools, whirl pools, pool entertainment, all brilliant.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved the Solstice Theatre, went every night and also to matinees for our favourite entertainers. The ships band was brilliant and the dancers, acrobats superb.

Children's Programs

No grand children with us this time.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Bertalino couldn't do enough for us. Waiter Robin in the theatre was great and Olga in the Ocean View café who cleared tables was super.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved the lifts with views of them from foyer to deck 15. The ability to sit on decks 3 to 6 and watch foyer entertainment with a coffee or drink.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very pleased with stateroom, perfect size for the two of us. Steward kept it spotless.

Ship tip

Just enjoy every moment.

Ports of call

Fremantle (Perth), Australia

Boarded here

Adelaide, Australia

5 out of 5
Great reception from pier band. To a trip to Hadndorf and Mount Lofty

Melbourne, Australia

5 out of 5
Nice harbour but busy with ferry traffic to Tasmania. Met my cousin and his wife who showed us round the lovely city of Melbourne.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

5 out of 5
Port a bit of a way out from Dunedin but shuttle bus service excellent. Also did a bus excursion round the town and surrounding area.

Akaroa, New Zealand

4 out of 5
I enjoyed the tenders to and from the ship, not everyone did! Akaroa not very big but we did enjoy the red Double Decker trip even though it was delayed by an hour and a half. Driver and guide gave super commentaries in a very friendly way.

Wellington, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Really enjoyed the excursion round Wellington visiting many interesting places and having some time to ourselves as well. Bus driver John Mahon was amazing, funny and informative.

Picton, New Zealand

5 out of 5
Nice sail in and out through wonderful scenery. Took the historic Passchendaele (Marlborugh) train to Blenheim and back. a wonderful experience.

Sydney, Australia

5 out of 5
Disembarked here but stayed 2 days exploring both Sydney City by hop-on hop off bus, and nearby Bondi beach.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation in Sydney quicker than embarkation in Freemantle. However although our ticket numbers were called out on the ship, the shore staff insisted they hadn't! Miscommunication somewhere!

Traveler Photos

Tender ashore, think helsman was Elvis "He loved hid tender, loved it true, and he always will!" Marlborough Train Tour Interesting scuptures Passchendael train Mount Victoria with Maori totem pole. Bus tour from Akaroa. Cow in a tree sculpure! Fairy tree Great pool deck, whirlpools, bars and food all at hand. Relaxing by the pool Enjoying a fresh latte
