Review summary

Our favorite part of the cruise were the meals. The food and drinks were excellent.

The serving staff was very good, professional, and pleasant.

Since this was our first cruise, we have nothing to compare it to. But we had a great time.

We would recommend this cruise to others. Very enjoyable time.

Tell me what makes RCL different from Celebrity. I have only cruised on Celebrity, only had midship balcony rooms and the experience has been incredibly pleasant. I am actually afraid to travel on another line. I have a reservation for the Caribbean on the Splendor in December, but am not looking forward to it and may cancel. I love the idea of the ships Art Deco kitchiness but the Celebrity food, comfortable beds, hot powerful showers, assured views on verandas, the library, cleanliness, the service levels, all meet my expectations. I am kind of bummed that I am on Carnival. I will feel trapped inside the ship if I don't like it. I almost went to Alaska on Norwegian but found the Celebrity cruise and the travel agent said book it. He said that I have to change my expectations on Norwegian and Carnival, but doesn't explain how.

What you have cited are the major discriminators for Celebrity. You would notice the difference on RCL. At least I have with regards to mdr food. However the ship experience on RCL has some advantages over Celebrity so we like RCL overall. We use the specialty restaurants to make up the difference. I treat the specialty restaurants like they are an excursion. I'm willing to spend the extra money to enhance my cruise experience just like some people spend on liquor or the casino. Etc.
