Review summary

We had a wonderful week aboard the Celebrity Solstice. It is a beautiful ship with great service, fun activities, and enjoyable entertainment, We especially enjoyed the naturalist onboard, Brent Nixon. Our cabin stewards, Mario and Rafi were exceptional as was the dining staff in the Blu restaurant, a great perk for the Aqua Class! We loved the Persian Gardens with the heated relaxation chairs, saunas and aromatherapy rooms. We are already thinking of planning a 2nd trip to Alaska!!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the Blu restaurant and also the Aqua Café. The buffets had good food but were rather crowded at peak times. We ate in the main dinning room one evening but definitely preferred the Blu restaurant. Also the Sunset Bar is the place to hang out while cruising. It's protected from the wind and if you're lucky enough to have Misko from Montenegro wait on you you'll be very well taken care of and entertained. The guy's a hoot.

Children's Programs

We did not travel with children so we did not experience the children's program.

Service and Staff

Our cabin stewards, Mario and Rafi were excellent and our waiter in the Blu restaurant, Augus was very attentive.

Cabin / Stateroom

We are so glad we booked the Aqua Class cabin with a balcony. The cabin is compact but very functional. There was plenty of space and I'm not a light packer.

Ship tip

We ordered room service every morning for coffee and a light breakfast. For early risers there is coffee and tea 24/7 in the main dinning area on deck 14. The Aqua café is also a nice place for a smoothie or healthy juices pre/post workouts.

The float plane ride on Taquan Air to the all-you-can eat crab feast was awesome. We'd never been on a float plane before and were amazed at how smooth the take-off, flight and landing were.

Probably the best part of the trip was when our captian, Tasos, took us right up to the Dawes glacier and did a 360 with the ship so everyone could get a great view. Eight miles into the Endicott Arm of the Tracy Arm fjord with a 900 foot luxury line. Unbelievable experience!

Definitely book a whale watching tour and do it early, they sell out fast. Juneau is the place to see whales up close and personal.

The triple adventure, bike-hike-float trip was an awesome excursion, highly recommended!
