Room Type: Balcony

First time to Alaska. Highlight were the views especially the views on the Inside passage. Solstice was an excellent ship. Plenty of room and an excellent attentive staff. Eddy (stateroom) and Geovanny (dining room) took excellent care of us. Alaskan cruise is a trip everyone should take at least once.

Ship Quality
plenty of room and very clean
Food and Dining
excellent food from main dining room to buffet to hamburgers and hotdogs
Service and Staff
very attentive, only negative would be language barriers. some staff did not speak nor understand English very well, made communication difficult at times
Entertainment
couple of good shows, some average. House band was excellent, playing "oldies" on numerous nights
Onboard Activities
Destinations and Excursions
Excellent scenery and cultural aspects in every port. Did not care for all the tourist shops.
Cabin / Stateroom
Plenty of space and storage. Balcony views were awesome.
Seattle, Washington
Spent two extra days before cruise. Downtown and market areas were congested. Enjoyed expolring east side of Lake Washington.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Totem Pole Musuem and Rainforest walk were highlights. Shops were crowded with 4 ships in port. Enjoyed local beers.
Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
Magnificent views. Saw whales and sea otters from balcony.
Juneau, Alaska
Mostly a tourist trap. Enjoyed Red Dog saloon, great music and local beers.
Skagway, Alaska
Best scenery and local culture. Small town setting and crowded.
Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska
Enjoyed views from balcony and observation areas.
Victoria, British Columbia
Beautiful city. We walked the coastline from the ship to downtown. Beacon Hill gardens was great as was Irish Times tavern.

Tip

Plan your packing. Internet said port weather would be high 70' s for the times we were there. Only wore shorts one day. Also, mornings and nights are cold on ship, even too cold for some activities on top decks. You can easily wear the same clothes every day, nobody cares. Buy a beverage package.
