Celebrity Silhouette Cruise Reviews - Reviews

We got what we were looking for.  A crowd of our age range, a ship clean and modern, a restaurant with great service,etc. The room was very quiet and we were pleasantly surprised to be placed on a high floor with balcony. Our booking agent was great!

I love love love the Silhouette's sleek style and swanky new decor. Sailed two years ago around the Mediterranean on Silhouette's sister ship "the Eclipse". These solstice class ships are ritzy floating hotels. Even thought they hold 2800 passengers the space and design makes it like you don't even notice extra people.

We love the atrium pool after our excursions and enjoyed the gigantic, shimmering dining room with glass and class abound. Prefer staying on these ships and waiting for an itinerary on the Reflection, the third of these Solstice ships.

Ship was very clean and staff was very good. However, the food in the dining room was repulsive. We have sailed many times on Holland America and could not wait to get to dinner or any other meal. This trip, we had 3 veranda staterooms and had no breakfasts in the dining room (arrived 1 morning at 9:03) and cutoff was 9. We were refused, as were the 4 in front of us. Had the elevators been timely, we would have made it by 9. Steaks at dinner were tough and choices were horrific. Fish was awful and on the last evening, here came the lobster(so tough we could not chew). Even the waiter understood the poor quality of the food. I could go on and on, but let us now get to the towels and wash cloths. My daughters and I said our faces were scratched from the worn out rough cloths and the bath towels were also old and the size of a hand towel. I feel sure this will not be printed or get any attention, but at least I had a chance to vent. 7 days and I counted the days to get back to much better conditions and food, so as you might guess, I am not interested in another Celebrity cruise.

I've taken over 30 cruises on various lines over the past 20 years. RCCL, NCL, PRINCESS, CARNIVAL, ETC. But this was my first Celebrity Cruise. The Silhouette was by far the most relaxing and immaculate ship I've ever seen.  My cabin, a veranda on deck 8 was very nice, not cramped and had loads of storage space for clothes. The bathroom, which is always a big disappointed on many ships was very large and spacious. The ship always had a very clean appearance  and never felt muggy or humid. The staff was very professional as well. The food was spectacular! Plenty of variety and really no reason to go to a specialty restaurant as the dining room was great. The seas were very rough for the entire cruise 10-12 feet every day, but the captain kept you informed and comfortable throughout. Despite the rough seas, I  saw only 1 or 2 sea sick passengers. I could go on and on, but below are some pros and cons to wrap it up. I will only go on Celebrity from now on.

Pros:

Immaculate ship

Superb food

Professional staff

Not very many toddlers 

No shirtless drunks with tattoos 

Fresh water indoor pool

Nice casino 

Always ample seating at pools, lounges, etc.

100% non smoking indoors 

Awesome wine bar with great selections (but a bit pricey)

Cons:

Entertainment was not great

Lawn steak house was $45 a person for same food that's free in dining room

Too short of time in ports

Not enough nighttime activities if you don't gamble

Overall, I  can't wait to try another Celebrity ship!

Entertainment is poor. Did not see any shows. They were all before dinner! Not one was after dinner.  It you don't drink or gamble there was nothing to do on the ship after dinner.

My Wife and I have been on 64 cruises and I have to say that this was the best in all ways.  The ship was spotless , the food was excellent , the service was better than any other cruise ship I have ever  been on, The entertainment was just great. I haven't seen entertainment like that in a long time. JUST  EXCELLENT.  Thank you Celebrity for a wonderful vacation. And thank you to Cruises Only for suggesting this ship.

This was the 3rd or 4th cruise booked with .  Their staff are really easy to work with.  The cruise was amazing.  The only thing I wasn't happy about was the excursion.  We actually booked one of our excursions through (their excursion company) and when I printed my tickets, it said we had to secure own transportation to the location.  (depending on which port we were going to dock, it was either a 5-10 minute walk or a 5-10 minute cab ride.)  In 7 cruises, we've never had to secure our own transportation when it was an "excursion" we were buying.  Therefore, you might want to amend this policy.  The excursion itself was great.  It's just the small print that gets you every time.  I will book with again in the future. 

Everything on the Silhouette was very good .The excursions are done exceptionally well..Debarkation might have gone a little faster but overall it was a great experience. we had a great time on this cruise - the ship is beautiful and the crew are friendly and helpful. The food in the dining room and Buffett is delicious. Our room was always kept clean and tidy. 

Our cruise was almost perfect. A mix up in the restaurant spoiled it. I was sent back to the cabin to put long pants on. A silly requirement. Other men were seated in jeans and some soiled pants. I returned but was never able to find my wife. They escorted me to the location where they claimed to have seated her. She wasn't there. We didn't find each other for a half hour. It spoiled the evening. Staff did not take responsibility and the apologies did not seem sincere.

This was our third Celebrity cruise and it was the best.  We went on two other Celebrity ships and enjoyed it, but Silhouette was much better.  Luminae, the suite class dining room, makes the extra cost worthwhile.

Decorations were beautiful for the Christmas. Staff members were very nice & friendly. Oceanview cafe foods were OK. Same food everyday. Very good entertainment shows.

This was our first Celebrity Cruise. It was very nice....the stateroom was great. It had the biggest bathroom and shower we have ever had on a cruise.  The entertainment was excellent; the cruise singers and dancers did a Cirque du Soleil type show that was fabulous!  The comedians and singers they brought on board were very good, as well.  We had the select style dining this time and honestly, we prefer the traditional dining.  Every night we sat at a different table and had different servers.  The service was not consistent.  Some evenings it was great and other nights the service was very, very slow.  We were also disappointed there was no piano bar on the Celebrity Silhouette.  

The boat was clean, quiet, relaxing and the service was great. There was however an issue with my safe malfunctioning as well as an unresolved issue with my girlfriends sign and sail card/drink package.  On the last day of the cruise we returned to our room to find the safe wide open but fortunately nothing appeared to be taken. Also, because of where our balcony was located, we would occasionally find cigarette on our balcony deck that did not belong to us, but most likely blew in from other passenger's balconies.  Lastly, for whatever reason, the wrong picture continually appeared at the bars for my girlfriend every time she used her card to get a drink forcing us to visit the customer service desk on numerous occasions. Oddly enough, her photograph was correct at the service desk and when boarding the ship, however the photo was never correct at the bars until the final two days of the cruise.  For what the drink package costs, we really shouldn't have had so much difficulty ordering drinks.  Aside from that, I would cruise on Celebrity again. 

Excellent food, friendly helpful crew, beautiful professional theater, smooth check-in and departure and lovely immaculate ship. Spa was way too expensive.

The ship was very clean.   Supervisors not only gave orders they were hands on throughout.   Food was excellent with a variety to choose from.   Entertainment was good.  The variety each nite was different and good.

We decided for this Celebrity Cruise to book a Sky Suite just to see if there was any difference in our cruise experience.  Well, there certainly was!  The cabin and veranda were much larger.  The bathroom was larger too and ample drawer and closet space made the room much more comfortable.  And every morning our Butler would come in with our room service breakfast, spread a white table cloth on the veranda table and set out our meal for the morning.  To ice this cake, we were in the new Luminae Dining room which is exclusive for suite guests.  We immediately changed our booking for two future cruises, thanks to our effective Cruise One Agent, to Sky Suites.  Treat yourself to something special - a Suite on Celebrity arranged by a Cruise One Consultant.

The cruise was outstanding. From the captain to the crew everyone was helpful and cheerful. Our wait staff was wonderful. David and Donaldson and the sommelier were worthy of commendation. The staff in the ocean view cafe was helpful and cheerful. Entertainment was great! 

If being entertained after dinner is your think, this ship will not let you down,

The Silhouette Theater Dancers and Singers are very talented in a lot of different

ways, three shows and one was better then the next. the comedy shows were

very entertaining but the stand out was a ventriloquist Garth Oliver, his wife is also

a ventriloquist who joins him in the show, OUTSTANDING!  

The ship's decor was not as interesting as other Celebrity ships. Basically, the lay-out was the same as ships in this class, but the wow factor was missing. The food was not as great too. They served the same food almost every day at the Oceanview Cafe. We had lunch once in the Tuscan Grille. They had the same garnish for the beef carpaccio as well as the steak (arugula with shaved cheese). I mentioned this to the waitress and she said this salad is very popular with cruisers. But that is not the point! No variety and no imagination!

Apart from that, it was s relaxing cruise, though we had to go early to the Solarium to grab deck chairs. Once we vacated ours, they were immediately taken by others. So we ended up relaxing in our own balcony most of the time.
