Review summary

The cruise was a great experience. Apart from one or two little niggles I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent, the staff were great. The ship was very clean. The entertainment was great in the theatre. The bands were great too

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We arrived at port around 12.00. It was not too busy at that time. Check in was painless

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The large buffet cafe on deck 14 was fantastic. Tended to eat more than I should have. Was excellent for people with kids. The Opus dining room was lovely & the meals were excellent

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't partake really with any activities. Was mostly off the boat during the day . On sea days I spent time in the solarium enjoying the rest

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I liked the theatre shows but felt they weren't long enough. The entertainers & bands were excellent. Didn't like the format of entertainment taking place in the foyer. People standing around looking over railings at a tiny dance floor. That's if you got near the railing in the first place. I think The sky lounge had a large dance floor & lots of seating that could have been utilised better . There was one night the band played by the pool side which was excellent re more space & seating. I emphasise the space & seating there , not the fact I was outdoors at the pool side.

Children's Programs

Didn't have kids with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The cabin steward was very good. The cabin was very clean . I know that the cabin stewards have a lot off rooms to get ready in the evenings but Some times when we went up on the deck to watch the ship leave port at around 6 pm, when we went back to our cabin at 6.30 to get ready for dinner, the bed was turned down ,curtains closed & lights on. She might have though we were going out at 6pm with our shorts on I don't know. Also , our safe wasn't working. We reported it 2 or three times then just gave up. The waiters were all great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean . The public toilets were spotless. The alcohol hand rub was a must I thought the more the better. The staff were constant in clearing things away

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was lovely & clean. Reminded me of being in a caravan. The view wasn't great with the lifeboat being just outside

Ship tip

Celebrity don't tell you on their website what time you actually leave the ship. This is so you pay for their expensive transfer. If you are booking a private transfer when you're going back to the airport ,the earliest you can leave is 07.00 & the latest you can leave the boat is 09.30 (unless u pay extra to stay on if you have a late flight) think it's about $30 per person. The private transfer will probably be cheaper than celebrity transfer price. You should book it for 9.30 / 10.00. If you have an early flight then you should just keep a hold of you luggage the night before & just have an express walk off.

Being first time cruisers & As I said previously, I had know idea what time I had to leave the ship . Celebrity don't tell you this when you are booking. To be on the safe side, We booked our private transfer for 11.00. We were off the ship by 9.30. Lots of hanging around.
