Review summary

The cruise ship was great and we enjoyed all the ports. Weather was in the 50’s and had a light rain most days. We lucked out with a dry and sunny day in Ketchikan which is rare. There is so much to do and see. We will definitely be planning a return trip. I highly recommend to everyone.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Walked right on ship. No wait at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We did not go to any of the specialty restaurants. We ate at the dining room 3 nights and the buffet the rest of the time. Dessert was definitely better in the dining room.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the solarium and sat in the hot tub a few days. It was the best place to sit in a lounge chair and look at the scenery since it’s was cool outside.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the 3 shows we went to

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Robert was our waiter in the main dining room and very nice and helpful in recommending new things. Roman was our steward and the very best! He was so good at remembering our names and talking to us about our day. Our room was always clean and he made sure we always had ice in the room.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Just the right size ship. We were able to get around without getting lost. The ship had just been redone and was beautiful. Not a big fancy mega ship with all the extras but we came to enjoys the views of Alaska. Very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Pleasantly surprised with our room. I was worried about it being an inside cabin but it was clean and decorated nicely, had very good storage and plenty of plugins. No power strip needed.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
We flew into Anchorage and stayed in a hotel. We took the bus transfer to Seward. If you have a chance take train instead of the bus.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Saw many sea lions on the icebergs on the way to the glacier. It was cold and misty and someone walked around offering soup all day on the deck. The glacier was wonderful and we saw and heard the calving several times.

Juneau, Alaska

We did the helicopter to Herbert Glacier dog sled tour. It was cloudy and raining on the glacier so always take a waterproof jacket. It seemed like we were in a different country surrounded by all the snow. The dogs were happy and enjoyed pulling us around. We got to hold the puppies before our fight back into town. We ate at Tracy’s King Crab Shack, walked through the shops and rode the tram up the mountain before heading back to the ship.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We rented a Jeep in Skagway and drove into the Yukon. It was so foggy on the way up but cleared off as soon as we hit the summit. Beautiful lakes and scenery everywhere! We saw a bear cross the road in front of us and got a great picture. Stopped at the town of Carcross to walk around and turned around at the beautiful Emerald Lake. Back in the town of Skagway we did some souvenir shopping.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
Real Alaska without all the many jewelry stores. We had the best halibut and chips. There are just a few local shops. My husband bought a nice knife there that was made of mammoth bone and Damascus steel. We walked the beach and saw hundreds of starfish. Sat on a bench and watched a whale from the shore. Also walked a nice trail in the woods.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Probably one of the prettiest ports. Loved all the shops on scenic Creek Street. We went on the Bering Sea Crab Fisherman’s Tour. Got told hold several different crab and watched them feed the eagles. I have never seen so many eagles. It was well worth the trip just to see that.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Our warmest day on the ship. Might have only been 55 but it was sunny and everyone was on deck or even in the outside pools and hot tubs. So much beautiful scenery. We saw dolphins and several orcas on the way into Canada.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Huge city, so much to see but we were exhausted and ready to be home. We went to Stanley Park and Granville Island.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Had to wait a little while but as soon as it was our time we walked right off with no problems going through customs.
