Overall the cruise was very relaxing, the staff was very friendly, and there was always plenty of food to eat. The cruise can be taken without excursions as each port had a town to visit upon immediate departure, but it was nice to see things that we wouldn't have seen if we hadn't gone on excursions. Besides, the local guides told us a lot about the habitat, the culture and the native people. No need to worry about bringing dressy clothes as they are not necessary to eat in the main dining hall. A nice pair of jeans and top with do just fine.

Food and Dining
4 out of 5
You can choose between the main dining room or the large buffet for every meal. For additional costs, you can choose a specialty restaurant. The main dining room is good, but it does take longer and the portions are smaller (which isn't a bad thing). The buffet is very large, with a wide variety and you can eat very quickly or hang out and talk. Great views of the outside scenery in the buffet area. You can also choose to eat outside if you wish.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We did several while at sea: we watched movies at the outdoor theater, we playing ping pong multiple times, and we went to a comedy show. There was much to do, but we choose to be low key and relax more so that we were ready for our shore excursions.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We only went to the comedy show and he was very funny. However other folks told us that the other stage shows were great as well.
Children's Programs
Didn't bring kids with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff are very international and from all over the world. Everyone was very nice and thoughtful of the little things.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It took a few days to figure out where everything is, but once you got that down, it was easy to navigate the ship. The ship was very clean and the staff was continuously cleaning every day to keep it that way.
Cabin / Stateroom

Was pleasantly surprised with our room. The window made it feel larger than it was. We had plenty of storage space. Our Steward was amazing.
Ship tip
You don't have to dress up to eat. Jeans and a nice shirt are fine for the main dining hall and anything goes in the buffet.
We did a tour of the city and took a float tour down a glacier river. The guide was very knowledge of the city's history and surroundings. We saw many Eagles.
Our favorite!!! Very clean! Small touches included several log burning outdoor fires and free umbrellas (it is a rain forest). We saw several killer whales, the native humpback whale named Frederick, and many Eagles. We did a kayaking trip into Hoonah, which was nice. I would got back to Icy Strait Point again!
We toured the town and took a 2 mile hike in the Tongrass National Forest. Our guide was a local and knew a lot about the history, plants, and animals that we saw.
Communication was horrible! Worst part of our entire trip. We arrived to our lounge area early and when the folks around us started leaving the ship, we left too. There was no announcement, no communication that this was the "walk off" group and that the next group needed to remain seated. As a result, we did not have our luggage for over an hour and had to wait in the terminal for someone to bring us our luggage. My advice, if you can carry your own luggage, keep it and leave with the walk-offs.
