We really like unpacking once and experiencing multiple ports and cultures. We like having confidence in the food on-board no matter what port we visit. When we were younger we did all the ports on our own but use excursions now. They are hit or miss depending on the quality of the guides. We had very good guides in most ports and a really bad guide in Tangier. We were refunded 50% of tour cost. Great ship, great crew, great food.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Lisbon embarkation was not as smooth or fast as most have been with Celebrity. The ship had been in dry dock so perhaps everyone thought they could get on at 11
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Equinox has one of the best managed Luminae restaurants. Food in main dining was good enough to choose their option in Luminae. Buffet also was exceptionally good variety and taste.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We prefer a quiet spot to read and observe the water which can be hard to do with so much noise in every public location.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The headline guests are good but the ships shows are just not our demographic and tend to confuse being loud with being talented.
Children's Programs
We prefer Viking's no children policy.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Everyone in housekeeping, Luminae, Retreat lounge, customer service and excursions were great to work with. The buffet still has challenges keeping tables serviced promptly and finding someone to order a coke. Still need attention to limiting chair hogs around the pool. It was a mistake to remove assistant room attendants and butlers.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We like the Equinox size and facilities. Attentive staff constantly cleaning public areas. surprised the 2024 dry dock did not add power plugs or charging ports beside the beds.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Handicap room is spacious and very well appointed. Very good storage and shelf space. Grateful for the lounge chair on the balcony. Room was very clean but with one person cleaning a lot of rooms we did not get the personal attention to ice, refrigerator, morning coffee we have enjoyed in a suite in the past.
Ship tip
Enjoy, go with the flow, its a vacation. Still no charging ports or plugs by the beds.
The ship cleared Barcelona at 0630 and there was no passport or customs needed for this itinerary. We walked off with our bags through the Retreat, got a cab with preset airport cost of E45. We were at the airport by 0655. Bolt does not service here, Uber does and would have been cheaper.
